Members of Germany’s Jewish community are speaking out against the World Zionist Organization’s decision to honor German Chancellor Angela Merkel with its prestigious Herzl Award. Every year, the organizations bestows the award upon figures who act to promote Zionist visionary Theodor Herzl’s “ideas for the creation of a safer and more tolerant world for Jews.” Along with Merkel, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has also been selected for the award, which the two women are set to receive in separate ceremonies. However, the announcement of WZO’s plan to honor Merkel has been met with fierce criticism by members of Germany’s Jewish community, who note the change in Merkel’s stance towards Israel in recent years, her support for the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and the increasing sense among the country’s Jews that Berlin is not doing an adequate job of contending with the growing threat to Jews as a result of the anti-Semitic views of Arab and Muslim migrants to the country. Among the points of contention raised by the local Jewish community: Germany’s continued pattern of voting against Israel at the United Nations and other international bodies; Berlin’s continued funding for organizations that support the BDS movement; its refusal to ban Hezbollah activities in the country; and its increased financial support for UNRWA, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, without conditioning those funds on the cessation of incitement against Israel. There are also those who cite Merkel’s vocal opposition to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s official capital and Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Popular German Jewish publicist and author Henryk M. Broder questioning the move in an article published in the German media: “What is Merkel getting the prize for? For her representative at the U.N. and the Security Council abstaining from anti-Israel votes, and thereby, in effect, supporting them? For that same official equating Hamas missile attacks on Israeli citizens to Israel’s demolitions of homes?” Dr. Rafael Korenzecher, deputy chair of the Coordinating Council of German Non-Governmental Organizations Against Anti-Semitism, sarcastically remarked that the decision to give Merkel the award was “justified.” “To her credit and the credit of the people around her,” he said, “it should be said they are contributing to German Jews making aliyah to Israel. Chances are that thanks to current policy, Germany will be Judenrein [‘free of Jews’].”

In the city of Limburg, an assassin hijacked a truck and deliberately ran into other people. The driver of the truck is said to have been given first aid by several passers-by. According to the passers-by, the driver repeatedly said “Allah”. According to the current state of affairs, it cannot be ruled out that this was a terrorist attack. Police have not yet confirmed this, however. 17 people were injured, some of them seriously.

Systematic infiltration is progressing, not only the police and judiciary are affected, the Kurdish-Lebanese clans are trying to expand their influence on immigration offices, registration offices or job centres. This could also be described as a “march through the institutions” and the migrant quota paves the way, if at some point all authorities are in the hands of the clans, then one no longer needs to mention infiltration or influence. The German state is being infiltrated everywhere and the do-gooders are only now realising, if at all.

On the night to Sunday it came at a Turkish wedding celebration in the civic hall in Ettlingenweier to an attempted homicide. The hall is used for cultural events and also for Turkish weddings. According to the state of knowledge of the criminal police to date, there were disputes between two groups of men shortly after 01.00 a.m. on the adjacent parking lot of the wedding celebration location. A previously unknown perpetrator allegedly stabbed the victim’s upper body three times with a knife. The victim then went back unaided to the main entrance of the hall, where he collapsed due to his injuries. Meanwhile the attacker fled. The 32-year-old came to a hospital in Karlsruhe with stab wounds to his upper body. At no time was there any danger to his life. The search for the attacker is difficult, as there are no concrete indications of the perpetrator yet. At present it is assumed that the perpetrator and the victim knew each other and that the crime was preceded by a conflict that had already lasted for some time.

Two guards protecting a Berlin synagogue in the Mitte district detained a Syrian man who apparently sought to enter the building with a knife on Friday. To a report according in the Bild paper, the Damascus-born man said ” Allahu Akbar” , or “God is Great” -a phrase frequently uttered before or during radical Islamic Terrorist attacks. The guards drew their firearms and the police were notified. A police spokeswoman said the guards kept their weapons holstered but the man ignored them. The security guards said “Knife away and stop immediately.” The Bild reported that the Syrian man did not drop the knife and repeated sentences in Arabic. The guards remained at a distance with their firearms out. Police appeared and sprayed an irritating gas in the man’s face. Authorities arrested the man and no additional weapons were found on him or in his apartment. There were no injuries. The police released the man from custody.
