Prince Philip passes — and all of a sudden, Meghan Markle looks kind of small

By Monica Showalter

His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, the able and admired consort of Queen Elizabeth II, has passed at the age of 99. Britain is honoring him with 41-gunsalutes, flotillas, special lighting, eight days of mourning, and tributes from all over. The New York Times has a great photo spread of his well-lived life. The Daily Mail came out with its fattest edition ever.

This Brazilian soccer player’s tribute is beautiful — there at the moment of his own soccer victory, he chose instead of honor Prince Philip. These non-British soccer players honored him, too. That’s so different from the disrespect for the U.S. coming out of the million-dollar ball players that’s going on over here.

President Trump, unlike the Brezhnevian-Chavista election thief who succeeded him and made one of the classiest tributes of all.

“The world mourns the passing of Prince Philip, a man who embodied the noble soul and proud spirit of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth,” Trump said in a statement.

“This is an irreplaceable loss for Great Britain, and for all who hold dear our civilization,” he said.

“Prince Philip defined British dignity and grace. He personified the quiet reserve, stern fortitude, and unbending integrity of the United Kingdom,” he said.

Biden in contrast offered only banalities, and in the Obama tradition made some of his so-called tribute all about himself, effectively saying he admired the prince because the latter’s age made him look less old by comparison. Ugh.

The estimable Nile Gardiner, a former aide to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, wrote this flawless summary of the duke’s admirable life for Fox News, which included fighting actual Nazis with distinction and bravery. His love and devotion to his wife was legendary — at 73 years of a happy marriage, he died a model for all men. He also was loved for his bluntness and political incorrectness — the Daily Mail has curated a striking sample here. There was no malice, though, Gardiner noted in his piece that he had a “jovial” manner. All the so-called politically incorrect gaffes seemed perfectly intentional yet he also knew how to make fun of himself.

But a racist, as Meghan Markle claimed someone in the royal family was? Plenty of eyes went to him, but knowing he was dying and had the public’s sympathy, the Markle team later denied that the alleged family racist was the prince or the queen, putting the onus on the rest of the family, which few, in Britain at least, believed, according to Gardiner.

Recalling the prince’s life was like a breath of fresh air. Did anyone know about his difficult family background, with an adulterous father and a saintly but mentally unstable mother, in what he called a ‘nomadic’ early life, and how he overcame it? Did anyone know about his distinguished war record fighting actual Nazis as well as the imperial Japanese? Did anyone know about his charity work and his ineffable devotion to duty? Did anyone recall his stalwart devotion to his wife, his very British stiff upper lip, his seriousness about duty to country, and his stately, classy, gentlemanly demeanor? He was always sort of in the background, based on media coverage. But he was always there and always representing with honor his country.

Who’s been the face of the British royal family lately? Why, none other than Meghan Markle and her adjunct, the wretched Prince Harry, who follows her around and goes along with her whims like a beagle. Unlike Prince Philip, Prince Harry abandoned his duty, arguably abandoned his country, ignored his family’s wishes to strike out on his own, (except with his daddy’s money) and generally went with selfishness. He now pursues the celebrity lifestyle in Los Angeles, complete with Oprah interviews and Netflix deals, all in the end not to advance the cause of Britain, but to advance the increasingly politicized agenda of Meghan. Blech.

Prince Philip was said to be the most upset with Prince Harry for walking out on his royal duty and with Meghan for leading him. Prince Philip, after all, had given up his promising career as a military man to be the queen’s consort, and embraced that role like the giant he was. He was asking of Harry and Meghan only what he had asked of himself, and consistently lived by example. Meghan, though, wasn’t about to give up her actress career for a mere life as a duchess and its “boring” royal-family duties. She reported said it “wasn’t working for me” and dragged Harry off to the celebrity lifestyle and red carpets back in Los Angeles.

Behind this kultursmog from the press which obscured the reality of the hard-working and dutiful, patriotic royal family, there still stood people like Prince Philip. It seems it now took death for people to take stock in who he was and what he did in a well-lived life that spanned nearly a century. In contrast, Meghan with all her press lackeys, looks kind of small, kind of icky, and distinctly unfit.

Switzerland: Ex-Imam gives orders to murder from prison

Azad M. has been imprisoned in the cantonal prison in Frauenfeld since March 2021. The Federal Criminal Court had sentenced him to 70 months in prison, they considered him guilty of involvement in a criminal organisation.

But even in prison, the former prayer leader of the Winterthur An’Nur mosque seems to remain committed to his beliefs. Because he used the telephone calls authorised to him to call for murder, among other things, as the newspaper “Tages-Anzeiger” reported.

In February, for example, he allegedly instructed his brother in Germany “not to let a person get away”. Because the conversations were monitored by an interpreter, he was then warned off. Things got serious during a phone call this March, when he tried to give instructions to his mother in Iraq on how to deal with the death of his nephew: After beginning his sentence: “Mum, tell them to let him…”, the phone was snatched out of his hands, but he still managed to call out that someone should “go to this man and let him perish”, reports the “Tages-Anzeiger”.

The 53-year-old Iraqi has been living in Switzerland since 1998. From here, he is said to have provided logistical and financial support to the IS terrorist militia. After serving his sentence, he is to be expelled from the country for 15 years. In addition, according to various media reports, he has threatened to have his wife killed if she divorces him. The marriage has since been divorced.

Both Azad and the prosecution disagree with the sentence of 70 months imprisonment, and both plan to appeal the verdict to the next instance.

Austria: Fuss over signage – Islam ban on playground?

For several weeks now, the people of Salzburg have been amazed at the brand new prohibition signage that have been put up at the playgrounds in the municipality of Puch near Hallein. “Swings only with a registration form?” asks the Salzburg edition of the newspaper “Kronen Zeitung”, which reported on the matter.

The signage read: “Use is only permitted to Puch citizens (persons with their main residence in the municipality of Puch near Hallein)! So far, so good, but an email from Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) mayor Helmut Klose has now resulted in the involvement of the Office of the Ombudsman for Children and Young People.

Several angry residents contacted the lawyer’s office, for example to clarify the legal basis. It is also unclear whether the local council was involved in the decision at all. The tip of the iceberg, however, is an e-mail that, according to the “Kronen Zeitung”, is being circulated in the village.

In it one can read further remarks on the playground ban. “It is also not accepted when Muslim families spread blankets at the playground and practise their midday religion, that is not part of our culture.”

Parents hope that this is just a misunderstanding of the language. The questions of the Children’s and Young People’s Ombudsman’s Office to the mayor should now clarify this.

Pack of Arabs chase and rape women in Berlin, Germany

Packs of men chase women, drag them into cars, rape them one after the other for hours. Sounds like something out of a bad film, but it really happened. One of the worst of them is said to have been Mohammed T. (28). He has been on trial at the Berlin Regional Court since Thursday.

The Iraqi (nicknamed “Momo”) has been behind bars since September 17, 2020. According to the indictment, three women fell victim to him and his gang. The indictment reads like a horror scenario:

August 1, 2019, Kreuzberg, a taxi stand near Gneisenau. A tourist couple from Australia wants to go back to the hostel. Mistake the car for an Uber taxi. They get in. On the way, the man is thrown into the street. The car drives into a dark corner with the woman. Ella M. (mid-20s) is raped by both occupants in the back seat. One of them is said to have been Mohammed “Momo” T.

January 18, 2020, Friedrichshain, Storkower Street. A high school graduate (18) from Dahlem leaves the techno club “Mensch Meier” at 3.30 a.m., is dragged into an SUV. On the back seat and in a flat she is raped again and again by three men. Four hours of hell and agony.

February 23, 2020, Friedrichshain, techno club “Berghain”. At 3 a.m. a party-goer (21) is dragged into the SUV by four men on Helsingforser Street. “We want sex!”, “Momo” is said to have said, according to the indictment. She is also raped again and again. For four hours. Afterwards, the woman is thrown out of the car with severe genital injuries.

The accused only says that he is a married hairdresser. He says nothing about the charges. “The accusations will be denied, questions will not be answered,” says his defence lawyer.

His genetic fingerprint (DNA traces) on the rape victims should convict him. But the women now have to testify as witnesses and again tell everything in great detail that they would like to forget.

One of the group was already sentenced in March: Wisam B. (33), an ex-policeman from Iraq, is sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison (verdict not yet final). He, too, had denied the crime until the end and demanded acquittal.

The trial will be continued on April 12, the verdict is scheduled for June 24.

European Court of Human Rights gives the green light for compulsory vaccinations

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has on Thursday decided that compulsory vaccinations are legal and can be necessary in “democratic” societies. The verdict came after the closure of a complaint brought before the court by Czech families about mandatory vaccinations for children. The court ruling states: “The measures can be seen as ‘necessary in a democratic society’.”

Although the ruling does not deal directly with the Covid-19 vaccine, experts believe it could have an impact on vaccination campaigns against the virus, especially among those who have previously refused to accept the vaccine.

The verdict says that the mandatory vaccinations prescribed by the Czech health authorities are in the “best interests” of children. In addition, the judgment stated: “The goal must be that every child is protected against serious diseases, through vaccination or by means of herd immunity.”

The court ruled that Czech health policy does not violate Article 8 on the right to respect for private life in accordance with the European Convention on Human Rights.

According to Czech law, children must be vaccinated against nine diseases, including diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B and measles.

The case has been brought to court by families who have been fined or whose children have been denied day-care for failing to comply with their statutory vaccination requirement.

But forced vaccinations have not gone smoothly everywhere, at least in some cases in France and Germany. In France, the mayor of the 7th arrondissement in Paris, had wanted to forcefully vaccinate non-priority educational staff. The state cancelled the appointments however.

Rachida Dati, LR mayor of the 7th arrondissement of Paris expresses her anger over the decision. French daily Le Monde reported that, as part of an expanded vaccination of its inhabitants against Covid 19, the mayor had decided to vaccinate teachers and staff from schools and nurseries in her district. These socio-professional categories do not meet the eligibility criteria, the State claimed and opposed the health strategy developed by the elected official and decided to cancel the meetings already organized.

On Thursday, April 8, Dati admonished the government by sending a letter to the Minister of Health, denouncing the “arbitrary and unjustified decision” taken by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) following this decision.

The administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine caused trouble in Gifhorn, Germany: a 52-year-old high-risk patient had refused the jab, but the head vaccinator insisted. The patient has now reported the forced vaccination to the police.

A forced jab with the AstraZeneca vaccine was not well-received, according to a report in the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung. The family doctor of the 52-year-old Ilmo Wuff, one of the high-risk corona patients due to previous illnesses, certified that Wuff could only be vaccinated with the BioNTech/Pfizervaccine. But at the vaccination center, the head doctor insisted on the controversial AstraZeneca vaccine.

Wuff suffers from the lung disease COPD and is also subject to other health restrictions. Since he is one of the high-risk patients due to his previous illnesses, he has largely avoided contact with other people since the beginning of the Corona crisis, since it could have serious consequences for him. On March 31, 2021, he was able to attend his vaccination appointment at the town hall.

After registering at the vaccination center, however, he was referred to the place where they were giving the vaccinations with the AstraZeneca vaccine. However, the 52-year-old had a certificate from his family doctor that only the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine was possible for him. In addition, Wuff pointed out that the recommendation for the AstraZeneca vaccine is currently not for under 60-year-olds.

“So I was out of the question for this vaccine. My family doctor had certified that only BioNTech should be considered for me.”

However, the lead doctor interfered and insisted that Wuff be vaccinated with AstraZeneca. If not, Wuff would receive no vaccination and would have to wait a long time for a new appointment.

The head doctor thus simply dismissed Wuff’s concerns and gave him the AstraZeneca jab. This outraged Wuff, because in retrospect he has also suffered from side effects. He therefore filed a complaint with the police for assault.
