A new study showed that an entire 20% of German academics want the right on college and university campuses to reject Israel’s existence as part of free speech.According to the study, which was reported in German media on Tuesday, 27% of professors and lecturers also want to be allowed to reject Islam as part of academic freedom. The think tank of the Christian Democratic Union party, the Kondrad Adenauer Foundation, commissioned the Instituts für Demoskopie Allensbach to survey 1,106 academics about free speech within the university and college setting.

Sigmount Königsberg, the representative to combat antisemitism for Germany’s largest Jewish community in Berlin, tweeted in connection with the study: “And then you wonder that at Humboldt an antisemitic event takes place under the guise of ‘freedom of science.'”The release of the Adenauer study comes amid an alleged antisemitism scandal at the Berlin-based Humboldt University. The president of the university, Dr. Sabine Kunst, permitted an alleged antisemitic professor to deliver a talk on Wednesday. The anti-Israel academic Georg Meggle promotes the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement targeting Israel. Last year, the Bundestag classified BDS as antisemitic.Humboldt students urged the university not to allow the event to take place, classifying it as antisemitic.Kunst declined to issue a statement to The Jerusalem Post. Meggle did not respond to a Post press query.In 2017, a German government study revealed that nearly 33 million Germans, 40% of the population of 82 million, are infected with “contemporary antisemitism” – hatred of the Jewish state.

The report said in a section titled “Agreement to Israel-related antisemitism” that 40% of Germans who were polled showed approval for the following statement: “Based on Israel’s policies, I can understand people having something against the Jews.”

In the late evening hours of the 25th of January 2020 (Saturday) a fire was discovered in the visitors’ toilet of the hospital at the street Bleichstraße 15 in Bochum, which the fire brigade was able to quickly extinguish. No persons were injured by the fire or the smoke emissions.

According to the current state of investigation, three young men entered the hospital via the main entrance at 10.35 pm and shortly afterwards went to the toilet room in the emergency room. While the trio – apparently Mediterraneans, who are between 19 and 25 years of age – were laughing loudly and quickly leaving the hospital through the exit to the street Große-Beck-Straße, the fire in the toilet was discovered at around 10:40 p.m. In the hospital, the three male persons were captured by a surveillance camera. By court order, the photos of the suspects were released for media publication. Witnesses who can provide information about the trio are asked to report to the Bochum fire commissioner’s office (KK 11) by calling 0234 / 909-4106 or to the criminal investigation department by calling 0234 / 909-4441.

Before The Hobbit movies could begin their trek through theaters, Warner Brothers and the Tolkien Estate had to settle their lawsuit over profits from the original movies for an undisclosed sum.

Christopher Tolkien, the now deceased son of the author, stated that the settlement would “allow The Tolkien Trust to properly pursue its charitable objectives.”

The Tolkien Trust was founded by Tolkien’s children in the seventies to use some of the income from the estate of the celebrated philologist and author for charitable works. Two generations later, these works appear to have drifted quite far from anything that the conservative scholar might have wished.

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was a staunch Catholic, a monarchist and proudly provincial. The Tolkien Trust funds fairly few Catholic and many international human rights causes. Its English charities would often have been best left unfunded considering the great harm that they do to the ‘shires’ of his land.

In 2018 and 2017, the Tolkien Trust sent a total of 80,000 pounds to Asylum Welcome. AW welcomes “asylum seekers, refugees and detainees” coming to Oxford and Oxfordshire. It boasts of its accomplishments in bringing Sudanese, Somalis, and Syrians to Oxford.

The majority of AW migrants come from Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia and Eritrea.

AW partners with six Oxford and Oxfordshire “community organizations”. Two of them are Syrian, two Somali, and one Sudanese. Its Syrian Resettlement program notes its success in registering Syrian asylum seekers for “benefits”. That, in the name of an author who once raged at government taxation.

Not satisfied with bringing Muslim migrants to Oxford, AW also runs services for detained migrants who are due to be removed and claims to have “played an important part in… facilitating their release”.

Oxford, like many places in the United Kingdom, that have suffered from mass migration from some of these countries, has experienced its own sex grooming ring scandal. More recently, Salman Ahmad, a Muslim refugee, gang raped a woman in Oxford after only being in the country for four months.

The Tolkien Trust sent 80,000 pounds to RefuAid which funds Syrian migrants in the UK. RefuAid, among other things, urges supporters to lobby MPs to increase local resettlement numbers. 75,000 pounds were sent to Doctors of the World UK which advocates for helping refugees access the NHS. And pumped another 70,000 into the Koestler Trust which aids prisoners and immigration detainees.

60,000 pounds was sent to La Cimade, which aids thousands of migrants entering France. 50,000 was sent to SOS Mediterranee and 10,000 pounds to Pilotes Voluntaires, which help migrants reach Europe.

The Tolkien Trust not only supports hypothetical, but actual Islamic terrorists by dispatching 190,000 pounds in the last two years to Reprieve. The British group boasts of having “led the fight for access to the men held at Guantánamo” and of having “secured freedom for more than 80 men.”

Clive Stafford Smith, Reprieve’s founder, represented among others, Moazzam Begg, who returned to the UK and went on to found CAGE, a pro-terrorist group, and to urge sympathy for Al Qaeda.

CAGE called Jihadi John, the ISIS killer of Britons like David Haines and Alan Henning, a “beautiful man”.

Reprieve is currently working to free Haroon Gul, a senior commander of the Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin terror group, which has been allied with ISIS, and Towfiq Bihani, a member of an Al Qaeda family who knew the original head of ISIS and threatened beheadings and another 9/11 attack.

In a tragic irony, the Tolkien Trust is using the proceeds from Lord of the Rings to fund modern day orcs.

After September 11, some found inspiration in the invocation of the battle between good and evil of the films. Unbeknownst to them, the films may have ended up funding that very evil we were fighting.

Using the proceeds of Tolkien’s explorations of Middle Earth, the Tolkien Trust is spending a good deal of money on Muslim charities and on organizations doing a great deal of work in the Middle East.

In the last two years, the Tolkien Trust has sent 41,000 pounds to Basmeh and Zeitooneh, a Syrian refugee charity, 60,000 pounds together in the last two years to the Aladdin Project and Association IMAD, two Muslim dialogue organizations in France, and 300,000 pounds to Medecins du Monde and 400,000 to Medecins Sans Frontihres, the original group, for its work in Libya and Yemen.

While J.R.R. Tolkien was conservative, the Tolkien Trust’s spending on matters unrelated to its founder is similar to any other leftist trust. There’s 10,000 pounds for Greenpeace, 50,000 for Peace Brigades International, which has a history of supporting Marxists, and 110,000 pounds for another anti-war group. Considering Tolkien’s views of the Spanish Civil War, he would not have supported PBI.

This obsession with “international relations and peace building” would have been foreign to him.

There’s plenty of money for criminal charities like the Howard League for Penal Reform, the Shannon Trust, the New Bridge Foundation, and the Prison Phoenix Trust. And for homeless charities. Yet for an organization funded by the work of Tolkien, a devout Christian, it’s striking how few Christian organizations are funded by the Trust.

Last week, I wrote of how the Roddenberry Foundation was exploiting the funds of the Star Trek creator to subsidize Islamists and racists who hate this country, its achievements and its ideals. There is a similar tragedy in the work of another fantastic creator being used to fund agendas he would have loathed.

The Trust is funded by some US copyrights of Lord of the Rings, along with assorted other translations and fragmentary works that Tolkien never chose to publish in his lifetime, but that have been used to feed a demand for Lord of the Rings material. No matter how unpublishable it really might be. And, perversely, those who buy books of Tolkien’s philosophical works and letters are funding the Trust.

J.R.R. Tolkien was profoundly suspicious of power, yet his Trust is used to fund the causes of a Sauronesque leftist political movement that believes in total power over all people for their own good.

“I am not a ‘socialist’ in any sense – being adverse to ‘planning’,” Tolkien wrote. “most of all because the ‘planners’, when they acquire power, become so bad—but I would not say we had to suffer the malice of Sharkey and his Ruffians here. Though the spirit of ‘Isengard’, if not of Mordor, is always cropping up.”

His Trust has imbibed the spirit of Isengard enough to embrace socialism and what comes with it.

In the Scouring of the Shire, the final struggle of Lord of the Rings, the hobbits return home to discover a devastated socialist landscape with lists of rules and ‘sharers’ collecting all the food, where the native farmers have been intimidated by “squint-eyed and sallow-faced” robbers acting as tax collectors.

If J.R.R. Tolkien were to return today, he would discover that his own Trust is filling the UK with orcs.

The Berlin-based Humboldt University, which expelled Jewish academics and students during the Nazi-era, is slated on Wednesday to host an event with a pro-BDS academic who critics allege is antisemitic and has helped mainstream the delegitmization of Israel.The Humboldt University media spokesman Hans-Christoph Keller plans to moderate the panel titled “Who is an antisemite – a philosophical clarification of the concept.” The HU’s website lists a notice and registration for the Wednesday event with the anti-Israel academic Georg Meggle.

In response to accusations that Keller and the event with Meggle stoke and tolerate modern antisemitism, Keller told the Post “cleary no.” He added “The allegation of antisemitism is unfounded.”Keller said “It must be within the scope of freedom of education in a democratic society to be possible on the basis of scientific arguments to discuss with each other in a fair balanced manner. Because this is not just the core of the scientific work processes, but also an important societal one and a task of every university.”He refused to say if antisemitism is an opinion when asked.The Post also asked Keller if the HU is violating the mayor of Berlin’s anti-BDS executive order, stating public facilities are banned from providing space to BDS. The HU receives public funds.BDS is an abbreviation for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign targeting the Jewish state.

Dr. Efraim Zuroff, the chief Nazi hunter for the human rights organization the Simon Wiesenthal Center and head of the organization’s Jerusalem office, said: “Why would would a respectable university give a platform  to someone who supports BDS, which is a form of antisemitism, and any such lecture by a spokesman for that cause grants the legitimacy that this movement does not serve.”Zuroff confirmed to the Post that the HU is “making antisemitism politically and socially respectable.”Amid rising antisemitism and violence against Jews in Berlin, the representative to combat antisemitism for Berlin’s Jewish community, Sigmount A. Königsberg, told the Post that in connection with Meggle and the HU event: “The modern hater of Jews no longer says that he is antisemite. Rather, he gives free rein to his antisemitism, in which he calls himself an ‘anti-Zionist’ or ‘critic of Israel,’ but means Jews.”He added that “An anti-Zionist denies the Jewish people what is granted to all other peoples: the right to self-determination. If that’s not antisemitism, then what it?”Alex Feuerherdt, an author of a book on UN-based antisemitism and leading German journalist writing on contemporary Jew-hatred, told the Post that “Georg Meggle has long been known for his negative attitude towards Israel. For example, 15 years ago he organized anti-Zionist lectures in Leipzig, where speakers with antisemitic positions were allowed to speak. “Meggle held an anti-Israel event with two antisemitic activists, one of whom, Hajo Meyer, has termed Israel a “criminal state” and equated the suffering of Palestinians to the persecution and mass murder of Jews during the Holocaust. The Dutch Jewish author Leon de Winter told the Post in 2011 that in Meyer’s book about the “end of Judaism,” an end he favors, he wrote that “the Jews’ ‘otherness,’ like their dietary rules, caused antipathy already thousands of years ago.”De Winter added that “It is a fascinating and frightening way to survive – he is still the Nazi prisoner he once was by completely internalizing the Nazi’s hatred.”The Humboldt University student Henri Armke told the Post that “BDS and other antisemitic movements must not be able to get a place on campus or anywhere else. Therefore, some students will advise how they will react to Meggle’s dangerous propaganda if this event is not canceled. That BDS, the current form of ‘Don’t buy from Jews!’, the Nazi slogan, 75 years after the liberation of Auschwitz, is given a stage, is a shame!”The Post sent a media query to Meggle who also teaches at the Cairo, Egypt branch of Leipzig University.
Dr. Elvira Groezinger, the deputy representative of the Geman branch of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East, appealed to the HU to cancel the event. She said at the HU tomorrow, of all things, the BDS supporter and antisemite Georg Meggle is to discuss the freedom of science. Is this a preparatory event for the dismissal of students and teachers who reject this line?”She added that “We had that before. The university’s namesake turns in his grave! We appeal to the responsible persons to prevent this event in such a public space in accordance with the Bundestag resolution! Antisemitism and agitation against Israel have no place in the academic field.”

German volunteer in the First World War, nationalist enlisted in the far right Freikorps, anticommunist and scholar of the greatest of the medieval German emperors Frederick II of Swabia, the historian Ernst Kantorowicz had no choice but to leave Nazi Germany in the annus horribilis 1939. It was not enough that Nazi minister Goebbels liked his great biography of the emperor. Kantorowicz was Jewish and had to leave. 

He arrived in the United States, where he obtained the chair of medieval history at Berkeley. Ten years later, the university administration forced teachers to take an oath of anti-communism. Kantorowicz refused to sign it despite his famous anti-communism, because he had a horror of any type of intellectual yoke. He was fired and found a job in Princeton thanks to the intercession of the great physicist Robert Oppenheimer.

Seventy years later, Berkeley faces another type of oath called “diversity”, the powerful hegemonic ideology built to enforce all the canons and the trappings of the new anti-racism.

An investigation by Reason, the libertarian magazine, reveals that the University of California has asked potential faculty members to backup claims to support “diversity”. No candidate who fails the test can have his application considered.

A report on the Berkeley Diversity Initiative – released by biologist Jerry Coyne – shows that 8 different departments have used “diversity” to eliminate candidates. A group of 894 candidates was reduced to 214 based solely on how convincing they were in their job application on spreading “diversity”.

In practice, if those who apply for a job do not mention “diversity”, they are automatically rejected, however brilliant their resumes may be. Berkeley rejected 76 percent of the qualified candidates without even considering their skills. These candidates could have been the next Kantorowicz or Oppenheimer. It doesn’t matter, “diversity” above all.

Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Abigail Thompson of the mathematics department at the University of California reported what is happening in Berkeley. She was invited to submit an essay to the “Notices” of the American Mathematical Society, the most widely read math journal. She expressed her opinion that these statements on “diversity” have become a political litmus test. On social media, Thompson’s ideas have been called disgusting, she has been condemned and professors are being urged to remove their students from Thompson’s faculty.

Kantorowicz had seen in Germany what happened when professors swore oaths. And to explain his refusal to sign at the cost of losing his job, the historian said: “There are three professions that have the right to wear a gown. They are the judge, the priest and the professor. This habit attests the wearer’s mental maturity, his independence of judgment and his direct responsibility towards his conscience and his god. These are the last professions that should agree to act under duress”.

There was a time when US faculties of humanities gave birth to many geniuses. Now, it is the time of the “diversity” idiots. This is how universities commit suicide.

The German weekly Die Zeit published a headline claiming Israel first attacked the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. The publication did not note that the IDF fired in self-defense after Hamas launched missiles into Israel, which sparked an uproar on social media.“Israel attacks Hamas in Gaza again,” read the headline of the online article of Die Zeit (The Time) in connection with the attack on Sunday. Katharina von Schnurbein, the first European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism, tweeted, “I am a big Die Zeit fan because I appreciate solid journalism, but this title is tendentious and misleading. This would be correct: ‘Israel reacts to renewed fire from Gaza.’ You can easily correct that online.”

Other Twitter users blasted the German weekly for its headline. The paper later changed the headline to: “Israel responds to shelling from the Gaza Strip.”Die Zeit added a correction explanation at the end of the article. “Our report was initially published with a misleading title. We apologize for this error,” the paper wrote.Von Schnurbein‘s statement was an atypical public criticism of a German institution. When The Jerusalem Post asked her if she would urge the EU to call for a ban of the Lebanese Shi’ite movement Hezbollah in Europe, she declined to answer.
The US, Canada, Israel, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the Arab League and a number of Latin American countries have classified Hezbollah’s entire organization as a terrorist movement.The EU and Germany, however, have outlawed Hezbollah‘s “military wing” and allows the “political wing” to raise funds and recruit new members in Europe. Hezbollah considers itself a unified movement, without separate wings.

A 30-year-old Islamic convert who was arrested after brandishing a machete over the weekend is said to have quarrelled with a neighbouring family whose 11-year-old daughter he wanted to marry.

Quentin B. was arrested on Saturday evening in the commune of Agde in southern France after he had brandished a machete and threatened to kill a local family and their children.

The family called the police and officers arrived at the address of the Islamic convert who had locked himself in his mother’s home.

When the officers attempted to enter the home, they were showered with insults, and the 30-year-old began reciting a prayer in Arabic. The man’s mother also pleaded with him to put down his weapons and allow the police to enter but to no avail, Metropolitain reports.

Eventually, the man opened the door but continued to threaten officers and, as a result, was hit with a taser stun-gun but the weapon had no effect. Then officers drew their firearms, which led to the man putting down his machete.

According to investigators, the 30-year-old had recently converted to Islam and become radicalised. The dispute with his neighbours came after he expressed that he wanted to marry their 11-year-old daughter according to Islamic law, which the neighbours refused.

The incident comes after another French radicalised Islamic convert was tried last week for attempting a terrorist attack on a French airbase in 2017.

Convert Alain Feuillerat, a former soldier, had worn a uniform featuring the Islamic State flag and carried several weapons, including a pump-action shotgun. He had converted to Islam following the death of a fellow soldier in 2011.

Another radicalised convert, IT worker Michael Harpon, successfully carried out an act of terror last year, killing four people at the police headquarters in Paris and raising fears of radicalisation among the police force.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan on Monday announced this year’s winner of the “Diversity in Advertising Competition, Nubian Skin, whose advertisement featured six black models, revealing that for Khan, the term “diversity” simply means fewer or no ethnic Europeans. 

“London’s greatest strength is our diversity, so we challenged advertisers to produce ads that better represented our BAME communities,” Khan tweeted.

The Nubian advertisement poster features six black models sporting the brand’s special “nude” undergarments that are designed for people with darker skin tones.

The London Mayor then described the brand’s advertisement as “empowering” and “inclusive”. The term “inclusive”, for Khan, is Orwellian doublespeak for “exclusively” non-ethnic Europeans.

The top response to Khan’s tweet, which garnered nearly 7,000 likes and 700 retweets,  interestingly enough, came from the black British rapper Zuby.

“How is making everybody black ‘diversity’? Can’t we all just go back to being normal and get along? People are tired,” Zuby tweeted.

Last November, under Khan’s mayorship, a London billboard appeared to urge white Britons to get sterilized. The billboard, which lacked the “diversity standard” typically applied to every form of marketing that appears in public in the UK, depicts a group of all white kids who appear to be reveling in their demographic decline.

Situated between the gleeful white children, the billboard’ text reads, “Imagine a city less crowded… do your part–get sterilised! Yay!”
