Fawlty Towers deleted by UKTV

UKTV has censured an episode of Fawlty Towers

The hotel sitcom’s iconic episode The Germans has been removed from UKTV Play, the catch-up and streaming platform of the broadcaster that owns channels including DaveYesterday and Gold. […]

Originally broadcast on Friday 24th October 1975 as the last episode in the sitcom’s first series, The Germans is perhaps the most celebrated episode of the comedy and sees a German family arrive to stay at the eponymous hotel.

When Basil, the irascible owner-manager, receives a blow to the head, his last iota of restraint and decorum is lost, and he berates the Germans with undiplomatic quips about the Second World War, before goose-stepping around the building in a mad daze.

However, the episode’s deletion is due to the racist terms used by the hotel’s elderly, doddering resident Major Gowen in relation to a cricket match. Despite even the argumentative, short-tempered Fawlty calling him out on his use of the language – outdated even by the time of the programmes mid-70s production – the scene has often been cut from broadcasts of the episode in the last decade.

The network explains in a statement: “UKTV has temporarily removed an episode of Fawlty Towers The Germans from a Gold Box Set. The episode contains racial slurs so we are taking the episode down while we review it. We regularly review older content to ensure it meets audience expectations and are particularly aware of the impact of outdated language. Some shows carry warnings and others are edited. We want to take time to consider our options for this episode.”

Speaking to an Australian newspaperJohn Cleese says: “One of the things I’ve learned in the last 180 years is that people have very different senses of humour. Some of them understand that if you put nonsense words into the mouth of someone you want to make fun of you’re not broadcasting their views, you’re making fun of them. […]

“The Major was an old fossil left over from decades before. We were not supporting his views, we were making fun of them. If they can’t see that, if people are too stupid to see that, what can one say?

Illegal immigrants burn olive grove in Lesvos

An olive grove was burnt by illegal immigrants on the East Aegean island of Lesvos.

The burning of the olive grove took place in Moria, the location of the infamous migrant camp.

“Young olives planted a few years ago, the loss of [Saturday’s] arson by ‘strangers’ in Moria,” said Makis Pavlellis, a local to Moria who lives and works in the town and often photographs and documents destruction done by the illegal immigrants.

“But what can agriculture and livestock offer you now? See your interest, rent your fields to NGOs,” he added.

Currently, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency, there are 36,900 illegal immigrants on all of the Aegean islands, with nearly half from Afghanistan, as reported by Greek City Times. The majority of the population on the Aegean islands are from Afghanistan (49%), Syria (19%) and Somalia (6%).

Of the 36,900 illegal immigrants on the islands, 22% were women and 33% were children, in which 6 out of 10 are younger than 12 years old. Of those children, around 13% were unaccompanied or separated from their parents and were mostly from Afghanistan.

However, 45% of the illegal immigrants were men, more than double the number of women.

Some 550 illegal immigrants from the island of Lesvos who were granted with an international protection applicant’s card, have departed from the island over the last four days.

Of those, 150 left on Tuesday.

According to AMNA, they are heading to their own destinations, as they are no longer covered by any program or organisation such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Greece’s asylum service estimates that 25% of some 20,000 illegal immigrants currently residing at Lesvos camps, including the Moria hotspot, have been granted the permit for movement within Greece. They are allowed to seek employment but will not be subsidised for housing by any program.

Asylum authorities say the movement of refugees from Lesvos to the Greek mainland is expected to continue in coming days.

Tommy Robinson, DFLA, and British patriots to defend monuments from far-left thugs this weekend

The dishonest, liberal press is up in arms after Tommy Robinson and the Democratic Football Lads Alliance (DFLA) announced plans to defend war memorials in London on Saturday.

The planned action comes after Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and other far-left thugs defaced and tore down monuments across Britain last weekend. These despicable actions didn’t satisfy the mob’s ambitions, however. Following last weekend’s events, BLM and other Marxist activists – as a part of their ongoing ‘cultural revolution’ – published a list of 60 so-called “racist statues” that they would like to see brought down.

Tommy Robinson and the DFLA are expected to be joined by British patriots, servicemen from the British Armed Forces, and ex-forces. Together, they will defend British landmarks from leftist goons that would like nothing more than to see British history completely erased.

The pro-British activists have planned to gather by the Winston Churchill statue and the Cenotaph at around 11 am.

In response to the planned event, Ken Marsh, the head of the Met Police Federation, told the British media: “We have got the perfect storm ahead of us this weekend, we have got planned protests and now Tommy Robinson and his agitators.”

In Central Manchester, an anti-Antifa demonstration is also set to take place on Saturday at 11am.

Organizers of the demonstrations have welcomed all colors, creeds, and orientations to take part in what is meant to be a peaceful response to out of control, leftist thuggery. They have asked those who are looking to carry out violence to please stay away.

Last Saturday, a day which marked the 76th Anniversary of D-Day – the beginning of the joint Anglo-American invasion of Nazi-occupied France – Antifa and BLM activists defaced a famous statue of Sir Winston Churchill – the British leader who helped to orchestrate that very military operation, Voice of Europe reported.

The same day, BLM and Antifa hoodlums defaced a statue of Abraham Lincoln – the American president who freed the black slaves – in London during a “protest”, as previously reported by Voice of Europe

Earlier this week, Voice of Europe reported that the Muslim Public Affairs Committee UK joined the mob of Black Lives Matter and Antifa activists who are calling for additional statues in Britain to be torn down.

Arabic speaking men attack and insult a German mother with her 3-year-old son – see what the anti-fascist German scum journalism makes of it

The rotten German mainstream media have once again outdone themselves. From an attack by Arabic speaking men on a German mother with her 3-year-old son, these cesspool journalists turn an attack by alleged Germans on migrants.

The Leipziger Volkszeitung is lying as in the old GDR times:

During an assault by three unidentified persons, a three-year-old boy was slightly injured in Dresden. One of the unidentified persons pushed the boy on Tuesday, who then fell and injured himself, according to police on Wednesday.

Earlier, the three men, aged about 25 to 30 years, had insulted the 32-year-old mother and child on a playground. “The content of the insults suggests a xenophobic motivation”, the police report said. No information was given on the origin of the woman and child. State Security has taken over the investigation.

The tabloid BILD is a bit more honest in this respect:

Around 6.15 pm, three unknown German men (about 25 to 30 years old) are said to have insulted a German mother (32) and her son (3) with an Arabic swearword on a playground at Otto-Dix-Ring.

“The content of the insults suggests a xenophobic motivation,” said police spokesman Marko Laske (45). “Shortly afterwards, one of the young men pushed the little boy who fell.” He got abrasions from it.

Where there’s Antifa there is antisemitism

Several demonstrations in Germany against restrictions of freedom due to the Corona pandemic included antisemitic incidents. The infiltration of Jew-hatred not related to anything Jewish or Israeli has been a frequent occurrence in Western mass protests in past decades. Now, an even worse illustration of this phenomenon has emerged: the violent expression of antisemitism during the anti-racist protests in the United States after the murder of George Floyd by a policeman in Minneapolis.

Many of these were not demonstrations but sprees of lawless burning and looting. Some of the worst violence took place in Los Angeles. Various Jewish shops were destroyed in the Fairfax district. A variety of Jewish institutions were damaged including synagogues and a school. A statue of Raoul Wallenberg was smeared with anti-Semitic slogans. In Richmond, Virginia a Reform congregation, Beit Ahaba, had its windows smashed by rioters. Attacking synagogues is an act of antisemitism.

Commentators highlighted aspects of antisemitism in the demonstrations. In the British daily, Telegraph, Zoe Strimpel wrote: “Yet alongside those peacefully protesting are those criminally marauding in the name of social justice. Some of these do it in the name of anti-racism – as seen above – and some in the name of anti-fascism. The ring-leaders of the anti-fascists are the loathsome group, Antifa.

“While Antifa goes beyond Jews it seems that people purporting to be ‘antifascist or antiracist’ will sooner or later begin to behave like the lowest of criminals and bullies using a cause as an excuse for vandalism and destruction.…It is a notable irony that where there’s Antifa there is antisemitism.”

Melanie Phillips pointed out the strange attitude of many Jewish organizations. She wrote that in a statement by the Jewish Council of Public Affairs, 130 organizations said that they were “outraged by the killing of Floyd, declared ‘solidarity’ with the Black community and called for ‘an end’ to ‘systemic racism.'” Phillips remarked: “They make no protest against the specifically targeted attacks on synagogues and Jewish businesses.” Phillips called Black Lives Matter, an “anti-white, anti-capitalist and anti-Jewish hate group.”

The American Black Lives Matter movement aims to rectify the wrongs perpetrated against African American citizens in the past and present. Its 40,000 word manifesto accuses Israel of perpetrating genocide against Palestinians, labels Israel as an ‘apartheid state’ and joined with the BDS movement in calling for the total academic, cultural and economic boycott of the country. No such demands are made for any other state.

In a blog posted by the Zionist Organization of America, Daniel Greenfield also addressed the attitude of the Jewish organizations writing: “One would think that the hateful vandalism of 8 Jewish institutions and a mob screaming slurs after trashing Jewish businesses would lead to some sort of meaningful response. But, that would be the optimistic perspective of people who haven’t experienced the unmitigated level of cowardice and appeasement that comprises Jewish institutional life at virtually every level.

Palestinians and pro-Palestinians also piggybacked on the riots, finding, as usual, a roundabout way to blame Israel. A.J. Caschetta wrote: “By the time George Floyd was killed…—on Monday, May 25—it was inevitable that his death would be manipulated by the BDS movement. The next day, the BDS and Palestine Solidarity “working group” of the Democratic Socialists of America tweeted that ‘the police violence happening tonight in Minneapolis is straight out of the IDF playbook … US cops train in Israel.’”

The Guardian printed an article by its correspondent Oliver Holmes under the title Palestinian Lives Matter. “Israel’s police killing of autistic man draws US comparison.” The article referred to the killing of an unarmed Palestinian by Israeli police who wrongly thought him a terrorist. This led to an apology from Israel’s defense minister. This tragedy has been falsely pointed to by Palestinian Arab, Israeli and US activists as an example of what they claim is similar neglect for the lives of Palestinian and black people in Israel and the U.S.”

Adam Levick of Camera reacted: “Holmes goes further than merely noting the two incidents, by advancing narratives common amongst anti-Zionists and antisemites suggesting the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one between racist ‘whites’ (Israelis) and oppressed ‘people of color.’”

Levick added that Holmes quotes the Israeli journalist, Gideon Levy, and calls him one of the most prominent anti-occupation voices in the country. Levick comments: “However, Levy isn’t merely an ‘anti-occupation’ voice. He’s an anti-Zionist who has strongly suggested that Zionism is an inherently racist endeavor – rhetoric deemed antisemitic according to the IHRA Working Definition. That is, Levy is an Israeli Jew used by hard-left publications like the Guardian to legitimize hateful views about the Jewish state.”

Micha Danzic wrote in the Jewish Journal: “Immediately following the heinous death of George Floyd, we saw terrible images posted in various anti-Israel social-media accounts trying to connect Israel to his death. Some were outright fakes – such as a picture posted of a Chilean police officer with his knee on someone’s neck – but with a caption mislabeling him as an Israeli soldier. Others were in the form of cartoons that depicted a soldier with a ubiquitous Star of David on his arm, with his knee on the neck of an Arab in a keffiyeh, directly next to the image of a cop like Derek Chauvin [the policeman who killed Floyd] with his knee on an African-American’s neck.”

The Palestinian Museum in Woodbridge, CT posted a drawing by Palestinian artist, Waleed Ayyoub, honoring the memory of George Floyd and expressing Palestinian solidarity with the African American community in their struggle against racism and injustice. Floyd was depicted wearing a keffiyeh against the background of the Palestinian flag.

This is not the first time the killing of a black person by American police has been abused by black anti-Israel inciters. A.J Caschetta writes that the parallel between American blacks and Palestinian Arabs was introduced when “Ferguson, Missouri became ‘ground zero;’ for anti-police demonstrations. The riots erupted after Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson fatally shot African American Michael Brown. Following Brown’s death, the official website of the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement (BDS) issued a statement expressing “deep solidarity with the African American community in Ferguson, MO.” Placards held b protestors.connected Israel’s alleged treatment of Palestinian Arabs with the Ferguson killing.

In 2016, university professor, anti-Israel inciter, and militant American black activist, Angela Davis, used the killing of Michael Brown for the same purpose. She published a book of speeches and interviews. Even though most of the book deals with other topics, she titled it: Freedom is a Constant Struggle: Ferguson, Palestine and the Foundations of a Movement.

The current major anti-racist debate and demonstrations provide a challenge to Jewish organizations. They have to toe a fine line between identification with the black community struggle against perceived racism – as long as it is peaceful — and the antisemitism of the Black Lives Matter movement. How they intend to do that remains to be seen.

Macron’s party takes a knee for BLM

The French presidential party of Emmanuel Macron has called on everyone to “show solidarity with all victims of racism in the world”.

The executive visibly intend to prove to everyone their adhesion to the Black Lives Matter movement which has ignited leftists all around the world.

After French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said on Tuesday, June 9, that he was also ready to take a knee against alleged white racism, Macron’s party, La République en Marche called on all “to cease all activity for 8 minutes and 46 seconds” at 6pm, the time during which the African American George Floyd was kept on the ground by the American police officer Derek Chauvin, on May 25.

“At 6 pm, La République En Marche calls on everyone, wherever they are, to stop all activity for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in order to reflect on the memory of George Floyd and to show solidarity with all the victims of racism in the world.” The message was sent out on Twitter.

Earlier, in the morning, on BFM TV, Christophe Castaner said, about taking a knee, a gesture against white racism in the United States: “I believe that politics is made of symbols. And if this symbol were useful in overcoming racism, I would be perfectly comfortable doing so.”

But faced with the “steamroller” that followed the death of Floyd, the ex-MP of the National Rally denounced this gesture on Facebook.

With the death of George Floyd and the demonstrations that followed, the notion of “white privilege” has resurfaced. And with it, the feeling of collective guilt that has invaded the minds of many white activists.

For Marion Maréchal this is similar to the protests organised for allged victim of police violence in France, Adama Traoré.

“I don’t have to apologize as a white woman and as a Frenchwoman. Do you see what we are reduced to having to position ourselves in this way?” the former deputy said. “I don’t have to apologize for the death of an African American in the United States. I do not have to apologize for the death of an offender, Adama Traoré, an accidental death which took place following an unrelated arrest, it is important to remember, not for his skin color, but to the crimes he had committed, he and his family.”

Traoré was arrested during a police operation targeting his brother Bagui, suspected of extortion.

She said she did not have to apologize because she did not colonize anyone. “I did not enslave anyone in the same way as all these political groups and all these political activists themselves have never been colonized or enslaved,” Maréchal insisted.

Maréchal also denounced an “attempted subversion of minds” by “militant groups, of the left, known as anti-racist, indigenous Black Lives Matter” which, according to her, “not only ask us to kneel, but in addition are sullying the memory of our ancestors, spitting on our history, purging our heritage, tearing down our statues” . Finally, she accuses the government of having yielded to “the law of group emotion, vile political calculation and stupidity” by tolerating demonstrators during a pandemic.

She expressed surprise that 20 000 protesters illegally protesting could move Macron and Castaner, while 250 000 Yellow Vests had failed to do so.

RN member Julien Odoul estimated that Adama Traoré “was not killed because he was black” but “because he was a delinquent”.

On Tuesday June 9, Odoul told television host Jean-Marc Morandini: “I do not support the Traoré gang, which is a family of delinquents. One was convicted of violence against a vulnerable person; one who was convicted for setting a bus on fire.”

Philippe Bilger, honorary magistrate, and president of the Speech Institute and columnist at Sud Radio, said the government actions have eroded the Rule of Law in France after Castaner announced that the illegal protesters will not be sanctioned.

“The demonstrations are not (authorized) in fact because there is a decree of the Prime Minister within the framework of the second phase of the deconfinement which prohibits the gatherings of more than ten people. But I believe that the global emotion, which is a healthy emotion on this subject, goes beyond the legal rules that apply,” Christophe Castaner announced on BFM TV.

In a press briefing on Monday, Castaner asked for the suspension of any police officer “systematically envisaged for each proven suspicion” of racism, recalling that he was committed to a “zero tolerance” policy of racism in the force.

In essence this means that officers accused of racism will in future face immediate suspension. They will be obliged to prove their innocence, lifting the burden of providing evidence from the alleged victim. A similar law was passed in Germany recently, as FWM reported earlier.

It will also now be impossible for officers to constrain a dangerous suspect by pinning him or her on the ground.
