Some of the films that in recent years have won the Oscar for best film, in 2024 might yet be called upon to return the coveted statuette:

“Spotlight”, “The king’s speech”, “It is not a country for old men”, “The Gladiator”, “A beautiful mind”, “American Beauty”, “Titanic”, “Braveheart”, “The English Patient”, “The Silence of the Lambs”, “Schindler’s List” …

This is to go back only as far as the Nineties.

Certainly “Ben Hur”, “The Hunter”, “The Godfather” will not be saved … Perhaps they will be called upon to return the Oscar,not because they no longer deserve it, but because in those films there are no black protagonists, often not even in secondary roles. Nor are there any quotas reserved for the LGBT community.

None of this will happen, even though 2024 is the year that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars, has chosen to enforce new rules for nominating for best film. Directors and producers have time to adapt. An ideological canon to be followed in order to be able to be among the chosen ones for the title of best film.

The film will therefore have to meet two of the four new standards set, said the Academy, which is running for cover after the controversies of the #OscarsSoWhite and Black Lives Matter campaign.

The film that wants to be nominated for Best Picture must have at least one main character or one significant secondary character belonging to an underrepresented racial or ethnic group; at least 30 percent of secondary roles must go to two “underrepresented groups”; and the main plot or narrative must be focused on an under-represented group.

Under-represented groups are women, people of color, LGBT or people with disabilities. Productions must also fill in “standard inclusion forms”.

Basically, “diversity” means “no white males” (Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling said so). Even worse if they are heterosexuals.

The Los Angeles Times notes that some recent Best Picture nominees with almost exclusively white and male actors – including the World War I film “1917” and the gangster epic “The Irishman”- may have a hard time satisfying the new standard and staying real. Not to mention “Joker”. And what about “Dunkirk”, “Darkest Hour” and “Hurt Locker”, great war films that would not pass the exam imposed by the Academy that wants to become a sort of cinematic Eurovision.

And what about “Cleopatra”, the 1963 film guilty of cultural appropriation starring white Liz Taylor as the Egyptian queen?

And “Rocky”, this symbol of the much-abused “white heterosexual masculinity”?

And “My Africa”, with all those colonial fantasies?

And would the new rules mean that the first foreign film to win the statuette, “Parasite”, would be banned because Koreans are not a minority in South Korea?

For the same reasons, Hollywood awards prizes only to Israeli movies which present the Jewish state in a bad light, as the “oppressor” and the “occupier.” Never mind that over 50% of Israeli Jews are Sephardi in origin, 20% are Arabs with full rights, and that Israel is home to about 150,000 Ethiopian Jewish immigrants.

With these new rules, the Academy marks the return to the spirit of the Soviet Agitprop, the “socialist realism” of Moscow films, all educational and didactic, in which Kolkozians and young workers sang and danced with the always tanned Communist positive hero, always happy, always muscular, always loyal to the Party’s diktats.

When asked for an opinion, the Soviet writer Ilya Ehrenburg replied: “Socialist realism? Nobody knows what it is. Maybe that’s what the clique that defends its place likes and still dominates.”

Even in Hollywood, perhaps, they are afraid of being overwhelmed by “social justice” and are submitting voluntarily..

Stolberg’s knife attack is apparently not only “connected” with the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia, as the WDR (West German Broadcasting) reported in an initial report, but also appears to be an Islamist act of revenge, and a case of clan liability.The victim, a 23-year-old man, is the son of a man who is “optically of Turkish origin” (according to the spokesman for the Düsseldorf Attorney General’s Office in an interview with the magazine TE) and was seen with four other people in a photo that the AfD published on Facebook on the occasion of the local elections in NRW. One of the four is the spokesperson of the AfD city association of Stolberg, as the spokesperson of the North-Rhine Westphalian AfD says.The Attorney General’s Office describes the crime in the same way at the request of TE: When the later victim drove his car slowly through a traffic-calmed zone at a pond in Stolberg in the night from Sunday, a 21-year-old man holding a German and Iraqi passport apparently identified him. “In anger over the photo”, which he apparently considered, as the press spokesman put it, to be “treason”, the German-Iraqi man struck the car of the later victim.He stopped, opened the door. Then the German-Iraqi stabbed him twice with a knife and then fled. Witnesses have heard him shouting “Allahu Akbar” during the violence. The victim is hospitalized after an emergency surgery, seriously injured.The fugitive was arrested by the police on Sunday evening and is now in police custody. “The wanted man could be arrested in Stolberg in a vehicle as a passenger by a mobile task force”, the Cologne police twittered on Sunday evening. He apparently also attacked the police officers: “During the attack, the driver, passenger and a police officer were injured and receive medical treatment,” the police said.

The next, jihadist attack: On the night of Sunday a man severely injured a 23-year-old with a knife (see tweet above). The father of the victim had been seen on an AfD advertising motif. The attacker is said to have shouted “Allahu akbar”.

It is possible that the crime in Stolberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, is connected to the local elections. The father of the 23-year-old victim could be seen on an advertising motif – i.e. an election poster of the AfD, according to a spokesperson of the Düsseldorf Attorney General’s Office, which took over the proceedings on Monday. The suspected perpetrator had shouted “Allahu akbar” before or during the crime.

According to information from the tabloid “Bild”, the attack is said to have taken place around 0.40 a.m. in the city of Stolberg. According to previous findings, the suspect, a 21-year-old man, had opened the driver’s door of the slow-moving car from the outside and suddenly stabbed the driver with a knife. The victim is said to have been seriously injured and saved by emergency surgery. He is currently still in hospital.

The background and the identity of the perpetrator are still unclear. The attacker is said to have connections to the Islamist community. Police spokesmen in Cologne and Aachen neither wanted to confirm nor deny this. Due to the possible background of the attack, the Cologne police initially took over the investigation, reports the magazine Focus.

Last Friday morning, the ex-boyfriend of the beautiful office clerk Bianca G. (27 years old) sentenced her to death – and killed her with a knife. Her crime: to separate from her hot-blooded, Turkish-born husband.Disgusting: Her new boyfriend watched the crime inactively.After the bloody deed, Cenk D. (29 years old) had a calm conversation with the new friend of the woman whom he had just murdered with numerous stab wounds. The man of Turkish origin had moved out of the shared apartment in Lübeck three weeks ago.Then there were loud arguments again and again, the police had to come to mediate several times during the night. Of course there were no legal consequences. Unfortunately, in these cases, “something” always has to happen before the constitutional state acts – quite different from all the new laws that are directed against unwanted expression of opinion.

On the morning of the crime, Cenk is said to have hidden in the basement for a long time. A witness reports that he already had a knife with him. Why the witness did not call the police is not known. Maybe because he had already resigned and nothing would have happened anyway. Around 8 am, the murderer asked his ex-girlfriend who the new man at her side was. When she answered that this was her new boyfriend, Cenk D. executed her with a knife in a bloodlust. The new friend, Tim M. (33 years old), watched. Then he called the police, before he calmly talked to the murderer, according to the neighbors.This was also shown by photos (see FB-Post above). The investigating judge issued an arrest warrant on the strong suspicion of manslaughter. That a suspicion of murder could be present based on the circumstances and past incidents is probably quite unthinkable in the Germany of 2020 – perhaps it would be racist.

Scathing remark:

The independent public prosecutor’s offices and courts must now be allowed to work, they will certainly pass an appropriate sentence in the name of the people.

Paul Cliteur is a professor in Leiden, The Netherlands, a member of the Senate with Forum for Democracy, and the author of, among others, The State vs Wilders. Cliteur commented on the curious verdict recently announced against Geert Wilders.

Cliteur told De Dagelijkse Standaard that while the Court of Appeals in the Hague convicted Geert Wilders of group insult for his statement about “fewer Moroccans” he was acquitted despite the attempts by the Public Prosecutor to convict him for incitement to hate or discrimination.

Though it is naturally a disappointment that Wilders was not cleared of all charges, it is nevertheless a small success that now, all of a sudden, the incitement to discrimination on the grounds of race has disappeared. That has taken the sting out of the conviction, because only the group insult on the basis of race remains, argued Cliteur.

It is quite a backward move by the Appeals Court, he added, compared to the standpoint of the lower court. According to Cliteur, the next battle that Wilders is facing in the Supreme Court, will see the demise of the racial insult accusation, because the Supreme Court will, hopefully, acknowledge that Moroccans are not a race, but rather a nationality.

No Moroccan race and no Moroccan ethnicity exist, just a nationality, he said. And the legislature has explicitly not included that in the law. Thus, the zealots who want to include the concept of race can claim whatever they like, but, in doing so, they violate the principle of legality, and with it the rule of law, Cliteur concluded.

There remains the central problem however that the administrative elite, for one puzzling reason or another, is obsessed with labeling one group a “victim” while someone who spends the rest of their life on a jihadist death list can count on zero compassion.

PVV leader Wilders meanwhile reacted furiously after the statement by the Public Prosecution Service (OM) that the controversial rapper Akwasi will not be prosecuted for his inflammatory remarks on Dam Square. The Forum for Democracy supported Wilders.

“Total arbitrariness,” Wilders said. “I ask a question, stand in court for six years and am convicted, Akwasi threatens with brute force and goes free. The Netherlands has become a corrupt country.”

“Legally stupid,” said FvD MP Theo Hiddema, who is also a criminal lawyer. According to him, the decision of the Public Prosecution violates the principle of equality before the law. He points to similar cases: the lawsuit against Geert Wilders and the conviction of Jenny Douwes.

“Wilders asked a question about ‘less, less’ and Mrs Douwes tried to protect children from the activists of Kick Out Zwarte Piet, while this man has been harboring visibly violent fantasies for 10 years.”

More than 40 people had reported Akwasi for his comments on Dam Square during the Black Lives Matter demonstration in June. The rapper gave a speech saying: “The moment I see a Zwarte Piet in November, I will personally kick him in the face.”

Recently, old tweets from Akwasi surfaced in which he called for violence against Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet. In 2011, Akwasi tweeted: “Is anyone ever going to murder a Zwarte Piet or should I do it?” Also: “What am I provoking if I kill a Zwarte Piet?”

In 2012 he tweeted: “Zwarte Piet must die, man. Seriously.” A few months after an attack on Queen’s Day in 2009, the rapper fantasized about blowing up the steamboat that brings Sinterklaas and his blackface companions to the Netherlands every year.

The discredited public prosecutor Jacobien Vreekamp, who signed the decision on behalf of the Public Prosecution Service (OM) not to prosecute rapper Akwasi, until recently worked closely with Kick Out Zwarte Piet (KOZP) frontman Mitchell Esajas.

While referring to France’s large migrant population, French philosopher and journalist Eric Zemmour said that even though the country is aware who is committing assaults and violent crimes, the media refuses to report on it.

Zemmour made his remarks as a part of a guest panel for the Face à l’Info television program, in which he discussed the influx of migrants to Europe and a corresponding increase in crime.

Zemmour, an Algerian-born French Jew who works as a columnist for one of France’s top newspaper, Le Figaro, mainly pointed out that mainstream media ignores the stories of French citizens when they become the victims of migrant crimes, while the government would in many cases take the migrant’s side and the victims would become prosecuted by the authorities.

“The entire French society doesn’t resort to savagery. Then, what is it? We know who the savagery comes from,” he said. “We all know who commits these assaults. We all know who ran over the police officer Melanie. We all know who killed the bus driver in Bayonne. We know who breaks everything at amusement parks. We know who spoils the beaches of Marseille. We know who is forbidden in a swimming pool in Switzerland. We know all that. We know who it is: 99.9% are the children of North African and African immigrants,” said Zemmour, according to the RAIR Foundation, which translated his remarks on the Face à l’Info program.

“That doesn’t mean that all Maghreb and African immigrants do that. Of course not. However, it does mean when we know who they are, and we know who their victims are. We know that it’s Melanie and that the killers of Melanie are called Youssef or whatever.”

“We all know all that, and we also know that the newspapers don’t want to say that,” he said.

Zemmour was referencing a number of high-profile crimes this summer committed against French people by migrants or citizens of migrant descent, including Philippe Monguillot, a bus driver who was beaten to death by a group of young migrants after he asked them to wear their masks when they got on his bus without tickets.

In addition, he mentioned the case of officer Mélanie Lemée, who was deliberately hit and killed by an African male on a motorbike who was trying to escape a police checkpoint. In perhaps one of the most high-profile murders this summer, 23-year-old Axelle Dorier was killed in a brutal hit-and-run by Youcef T., who dragged her with his vehicle for nearly a kilometer and then left her to die.

This summer, a Rwandan migrant confessed to the crime to an arson attack on Nantes Cathedral during a time when France has faced a wave of attacks on its churches.

Zemmour also noted the tremendous increase in so-called “crimes of passion” that France saw over the summer. He said that this was greatly tied to the coronavirus lockdown, which meant many of the migrants and those with a migrant background have remained in France this year instead of taking vacation abroad.

“We all know why [crime has risen]. Most of these young people couldn’t go back home during summer vacation, and so they stayed here. In fact, it was the first summer where we had to live together. That’s the truth. Before that we didn’t live together as Gérard Collomb famously said, you know, ‘We live side by side,'” said Zemmour.

He continued by saying that many have a “bad reputation” in their home countries, including in Algeria.

“The Algerians think they are very ill-mannered, rude, and violent. The Algerians can’t stand that,” said Zemmour. “And the Algerian police are a bit tougher than ours.” 

Recently, Zemmour has been attacked and threatened with physical violence while walking on the streets of Paris. For his remarks that Muslims were not integrating in France but instead “colonizing” it, he has also been prosecuted by the French government. 

Despite the threats he has faced, Zemmour is one of the country’s most famed intellectuals who continues to share his opinions not only on immigration, but also feminism, LGBT issues, and the preservation of Western civilization.
