No Costco Returns for Hoarders

People are short on toilet paper because a herd of greedy, hysterical fools stampeded into stores like Costco and hoarded the supply. Some have now figured out that Wuhan virus has nothing to do with toilet paper, and that it will take them years to use the hundreds of rolls they have stacked up in the garage. But Costco isn’t taking it back. The same goes for other goods gathered by hoarders at everyone else’s expense:

As if thinking the hoarding craze would go on indefinitely, Costco appears to have overbought:

By the time this is over, TP may be going for a penny a roll. For now, you can still pay too much for it on eBay.

Thanks hoarders, for reminding us that we have something worse to fear than a virus: other people.

Germany: Asylum seekers ignore contact ban imposed because of corona virus

Instead of a curfew, Germany has a contact ban, but several asylum seekers have not yet understood this new regulation to curb the spread of the coronavirus or do not want to understand it, do not adhere to the distance rule and ignore curfews. The cities of Schneeberg and Zschorlau in Saxony also have these same problems with ” asylum seekers” , who are almost exclusively in large groups in public.

The tabloid BILD reports:

The mayors of Schneeberg and Zschorlau ask Saxony’s Ministry of the Interior for help. Because many of the asylum seekers living here would not comply with restrictions on leaving the home.

Again and again, large groups of residents of the Schneeberg asylum shelter have been observed on the streets of Schneeberg without good reason, the mayors report. This would give the population the impression that the restrictions would not apply to asylum seekers.

When asked about this matter, some asylum seekers reacted in part aggressively. For this reason, the State should, for example, set up a stationary supply as quickly as possible to provide the refugee home with everyday goods.

WATCH: Scenes Resembling First World War as ‘Battle of Evros’ Between Greeks, Migrants, Turks Continues

Scenes resembling the First World War are unfolding are unfolding on Europe’s frontier, with Greek border forces bathed in noxious fumes as Turkish police and, allegedly, Turkish-armed migrants bombard them with tear gas.

The Islamist president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was believed to have bought the border crisis to an end by deciding that he would not keep his side of the Graeco-Turkish frontier open for illegal migrants wishing to break into Europe anymore last Wednesday, due to the risk spreading coronavirus. However, it seems that thousands of migrants remain at the border regardless, and that Turkish personnel are continuing to support their efforts to punch through Greece’s protective fences — not least by bombarding their Greek counterparts with tear gas in social media footage which has been circulated by the Greek press.

Footage shot from the Greek side of the border and shared by Greek media outlet Proto Thema appears to show Greek personnel and army amublances bathed in noxious fumes in scenes reminiscent of the infamous gas attacks on the trenches of the First World War following one such bombardment.

The Greeks have themselves used tear gas to try and repel illegal aliens hurling rocks and petrol bombs at them, or attempting to tear down or otherwise dismantle border fencing — but recent videos show a number of migrants at the fences now appear to have been supplied with gas masks so they can sustain their attacks on the border regardless.

Turkish officials have previously claimed that at least 100,000 migrants have been released into Greece, but the Greek government disputes this, saying they have successfully held back tens of thousands and estimating the number who have made it through the land border in the hundreds.

Their task has not been made easier by the European Union’s past refusal to provide funding for robust border fences, which the bloc denounced as “pointless”.

“We are against building walls,” declared then-European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs, and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos, as recently as 2018.

Mr. Double-Secret-Coronavirus-Shadow-Briefer Is (Cough) Ready for (Cough) Duty!

BY VICTORIA TAFT

For a guy who just biffed his first, live anti-Trump “shadow briefing” about the coronavirus, Joe Biden, the Double-Secret-Coronavirus-Shadow-Briefer, probably shouldn’t have made this move during a live interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper.

The last we saw Tapper he was “enraged” at rollerblading San Franciscans who were supposed to be socially distancing but not doing so to the liking of the anchorman. At the time, Tapper tut-tutted with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, “This is kind of enraging. Many people in San Francisco have clearly not gotten the message!”

On Tuesday, Tapper was back on the job as America’s Anchor-Doctor.

Tapper welcomed Biden, but almost as soon as the interview started, he looked horrified as the Double-Secret-Coronavirus-Shadow-Briefer … used his hand – no, not to wave at the teleprompter guy as happened during his disastrous “shadow briefing” —  but to cough into!

Death panels alive and well in Europe

By Richard Jack Rail

Italy is getting creepily close to the death panels Sarah Palin warned us about in 2008.  The idea is that old people be allowed to die so younger people can use the medical resources (ICUs, ventilators, hospital beds) that the oldsters would have taken up.

This strikes me as contradictory.  The Left’s Malthusian scarcity thinking should favor the elderly over the youthful.  The younger you are, the longer you will be using scarce government services, eating scarce food, drinking scarce water, burning scarce gasoline, using scarce electricity, and extending your already overlarge carbon footprint.

Society saves resources by letting you die young.

Or should that be “by seeing to it that you die young”?  You know, the thinking that undergirds abortion.  Kill ’em young, and they don’t get to use bennies or otherwise suck up life force, leaving more for the rest of us to gorge on.  Older patients will probably die soon anyway, so they won’t suck up as much life force in the long term as younger patients.

The apparent European mania for euthanasia complements this approach to social management.  It will eventually be decided, for the greater good, that only perfect babies (carefully defined by statute) will be allowed to reach age 10, at which time they will undergo I.Q. testing (weighted for diversity, sex, eye color, etc).  Those testing below 100 will be allowed to die (made comfortable until they starve to death).  Among those who survive, euthanasia clears the boards off at 60.

Simple.  Clean.  Scientific.  And no “death panels.”  It will be written into law so that no one person has to bear the awful guilt of killing several hundred thousand humans deciding who dies every year.  That just wouldn’t be fair.

The epicenters of the Covid-19 pandemic

In the beginning there was only the Wuhan outbreak but within a few weeks, it spread to the entire province of Hubei, a territory where 60 million inhabitants live – six times the population of Lombardy. How did the invisible enemy invade every continent, from Europe to America via Africa?

In Italy it all started from Codogno, a town in the province of Lodi that has just under 16 000 inhabitants. Almost right away Vo ‘Euganeo followed. Soon the Italian outbreak got bigger to include the whole of Lombardy, with Bergamo and Brescia as cities most affected by the viral scourge.

Virologists believe that the virus spread to the rest of Europe from Germany, including to Italy with the main outbreak located in the North Rhine-Westphalia region with almost 5 000 infected. And in Bavaria there is over 2 200 infected patients.

In France, the main focus is on the Paris region and Alsace, where the army is building a field hospital. In Austria the greatest danger is concentrated in the Paznaun valley, precisely in the renowned ski resort of Ischgl. According to reports from Der Spiegel, the resort closed too late, and hundreds of people from Denmark, Germany, Sweden and many other countries were infected there.

In the UK, London is the main source of the outbreak. Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow, a suburb of the City, has raised the white flag declaring a crisis due to the high number of patients hospitalized for suspected contagion by Covid-19. The situation in Spain is also dramatic, where the numbers in Madrid are not so different from those in Lombardy.

Despite being about a week late compared to Italy, the infection has brought the Iberian capital to its knees. El País reported that on Monday March 16, hospitals in the Madrid region counted one death every 16 minutes while another Spanish daily El Mundo added that the two crematoriums in the city work 24/7 without interruption.

In South Korea the ground zero of the infection was located in Daegu. Until a few weeks ago, 60 percent of cases (initially even 80 percent) were located right here, in the fourth urban center of the country by number of inhabitants, about 250 kilometers south-east of Seoul.

Iran had its deadly outbreak in the religious city of Qom, about seventy kilometers from the capital Tehran.

Finally, in the United States, the epicenter of the infection is located in New York, where a spike in cases occurred on Friday March 20. The New York Postreported that on that day the new Coronavirus killed citizens “at a rate of more than one an hour” bringing the death toll to double figures.

According to the New York Times, in La Rochelle, a city in New York State (about half an hour north of Manhattan) the first containment efforts were made. On Monday, researchers noted an “attack rate” in New York that was “five times higher” than the rest of the country. Dr Deborah Birx warned that anybody leaving NY should self-quarantine for 14 days.

Polish football star Lewandowski and wife donate €1 million to coronavirus effort

Polish football star Robert Lewandowski and his wife, Anna, have donated €1 million to the effort to fight coronavirus.

The €1 million sum will be divided among infectious disease hospitals inwhile the rest will support other goals in fighting the pandemic in Poland. Sources close to Lewandowskis’ explained that the money will be divided equally to the 83 infectious hospitals throughout Poland.

The couple, along with their lawyers, are currently preparing the necessary documents which will permit equal distribution of the money.

Robert and Anna Lewandowski made the decision after consultations with Polish services responsible for coordinating fighting the coronavirus. The couple believes that the hospitals need the money the most and that their heads will know how to use the money the best.

“Today, we are all aware of the difficult situation surrounding us. Today, we all play on the same team. Let us be strong in this struggle and let us be unanimous. If we can help someone in a safe way, let us do so. Good is returning,” they wrote on social media while announcing the decision to donate money to fight the pandemic.

France: Police struggle to contain migrants amidst coronavirus outbreak

In Paris, the police are being stretched to the limit in their efforts to enforce the coronavirus (COVID-19) quarantines in the city’s migrant areas, or “no-go” zones.

In Saint-Denis, a suburb north of Paris which is inhabited mostly by immigrants, the locals largely ignore the quarantine. Many believe that the pandemic itself is a story invented by whites for the purpose of oppressing them, according to a report at Le Temps.

“They don’t understand anything,” a policeman told Le Temps. “Some of them are even saying that the virus is a fable invented by white people to force them to get off the streets.”

On the streets of Saint-Denis, where approximately 110,000 people reside, most everything is shut down, but many people still walk the streets in open defiance of the shelter-in-place order. A Le Temps journalist witnessed a group of black teenagers congregating in front of a shopping center in spite of a veiled mother, pushing her daughter in a stroller, admonishing them to go home. Others were discussing ways to falsify the documents that the police require people to carry when they go outside, which is supposed to only be for emergency reasons. They are printed in the newspapers, although the government has already published three different versions of the document since the crisis began, leading to confusion.

Breaking quarantine without a valid reason is punishable by a fine of 135 euros.

The police have said that controlling all the immigrants is impossible, so they are merely trying to deter them from violating the quarantine. Last week France’s Interior Ministry announced that 4,095 tickets had already been issued.

But the problem is not only the number of immigrants violating the government’s edicts, but also the fact that the police fear getting into an altercation with them will increase the risk that they themselves will be exposed to the virus.

Many of the immigrants are indeed wearing surgical masks, at the very least, but they are obtaining them via unorthodox means: they’re stealing them from pharmacies and hospitals, as someone named Ahmed told Le Temps. Apparently, the illicit drug trade is also continuing unimpeded in Saint-Denis. And in the suburb of Colombes, a man from Saint-Denis was recently arrested for stealing masks and hand sanitizer.

“We are not going to give up,” a policemen told reporters. “But we also know where these people live and how they live, and strict containment for them is just impossible.”

Given the lack of respect for the emergency measures being exhibited by immigrants, conservative intellectual Eric Zemmour has called for French President Emmanuel Macron to adopt harsher enforcement tactics, as previously reported by Voice of Europe.
