Austrian government steps up protection of churches after Vienna attack in run-up to Christmas

Austria has begun tightening security at its churches and other sites of religious worship, fearing copycat attacks after an Islamist gunman killed four people in a rampage earlier this month in the capital Vienna.

The attacker may have also intended to target houses of worship, Interior Minister Karl Nehammer said on Thursday.

“It cannot be ruled out that the perpetrator also wanted to deliberately seek out victims in churches,” Nehammer told reporters, citing the investigation’s findings. “There will therefore be a reinforced protection of church facilities as of today.”

Currently, there is no concrete threat against places of worship, but the minister explained that security is being tightened against possible copycat attacks in the “sensitive phase” of the run-up to Christmas.

Nehammer said that more police will be present in front of churches, synagogues and other religious institutions. He also stressed the need for “social solidarity” to “fight terrorism together.”

According to the minister, the “rapid reaction” officers and mobile patrols of the Cobra taskforce with armored vehicles and heavy equipment will be used in case of terrorist threats, or events in which attacks cannot be ruled out.

The 60-member group examining the November 2 attack is investigating 21 people, and 10 suspects are remanded in custody over alleged links to the Vienna attack. The perpetrator, a 20-year-old man who was born and raised in Vienna, was shot dead by police after firing at passersby on the street and in bars.

Authorities in Austria have admitted “intolerable mistakes” were made in the handling of intelligence on the attacker. Police had been aware of a “persistent and increased risk” of Islamist terrorist attacks, according to a report published by the Interior Ministry in 2019. It warned of the “increased danger of Islamist-motivated attacks” in Europe by radicalized individual perpetrators or autonomously acting small groups.

Unlimited migration threatens the demographic future of Europe, says French politician

Migrants should be provided with accommodations but in their home countries instead of in Europe, said Jordan Bardella, the vice-president and spokesman of the right-wing French National Rally, in an interviewon news channel CNews.

Bardella said if immigration is not halted, it represents a serious demographic threat to France and Europe.

“The borderless ideology of unlimited and unrestricted reception calls into question the demographic, economic and social balance of our countries,” Bardella said. “The EU’s Migration Pact is a new stage in this ‘rush for Europe'”.

The National Rally party has launched a campaign against the European Pact on Migration and Asylum, also known as the migration pact, with the party’s leader, Marine Le Pen slamming the plan during a news conference at the party’s headquarters in October.

“It is an organized plan of submersion of Europe and the nations which compose it,” said Le Pen. “It is a real pact with the devil which will lead to the suicide of Europe.”

According to Marine Le Pen, 60 to 70 million migrants could settle in Europe in a few years due to the EU’s migrant pact.

France itself currently settles 400,000 immigrants a year, which has contributed to the country’s rapidly changing demographics, raising the potential that ethnic French will become a minority over the coming decades.

Bardella said on CNews that compassion must be weighed with sensible strategies that ensure the safety and well-being of migrants in their own countries and allow the French to avoid becoming a minority, a policy that has been pursued by a number of nationalist parties and politicians in Europe, including Hungary.

“Of course the migrants should be offered a place to live, but at home,” Bardella said. “In a few days, [French Interior Minister] Gérald Darmanin has dropped to one knee by collectively letting go of the police and paying tribute to those who fought against France in Algeria.”

Bardella was referring to two recent incidents in France, one on Wednesday, in which police attacked a young Black man only identified as Michel, after he provoked them and tried to steal their weapons. Shortly after the attack, the General Inspectorate of National Police (IGPN) ordered an investigation into potential police abuse and falsifying evidence against the three police officers.

In the other case, which happened on Tuesday, police dismantled a migrant tent camp in downtown Paris, which sparked a debate in the French Parliament, eventually leading to a bill to ban videos identifying police officers with the “manifest intention of harming their physical or psychological integrity”.In both cases, Minister of Interior Gérald Darmanin bowed to public pressure and did not stand up to defend the actions of police, Bardella said.

Germany: Iraqi Refugee Attempts to Rape Female Pastor

The Mühlhausen district court sentenced a 24-year-old man to two and a half years in prison for attempted rape of a female pastor in Eichsfeld. The court found it proven that the man approached his victim in Leinefelde-Worbis in June and then pressed her to the floor to rape her. He also threatened the woman. Because she resisted and screamed, he let go of her. “No police, I know where you live,” he said before he ran away.In the courtroom, the victim identified the tolerated refugee from Iraq. DNA and traces of fibres also revealed him. The defendant said in court that he was ashamed – the woman could have been his mother. The 59-year-old had previously stated on the witness stand that she had been anxious since the assault and no longer went for walks alone. The accused was arrested shortly after the crime and has been in custody ever since. He lived in the immediate vicinity of the pastor’s flat in a shared accommodation.

The high cost of deportee housing and social assistance in Germany

Illegal migrants who are obliged to leave Germany but do not, have very little to fear if they stay. In these cases, the authorities often grant a “Duldung”, which means a carefree life in the German welfare state.

The AfD parliamentary group in the Bundestag wanted to do something about this legal complacency: Federal payments for rejected asylum seekers should be discontinued, they argued. In the “adjustment meeting” of the budget committee this week – after which the mainstream coalition politicians boasted about their “austerity efforts” – the attempt by the AfD to apply the law and save the taxpayer money, failed however.

The AfD parliamentary group used asylum decision statistics as the basis for its calculation. According to this, around 58 percent of all asylum applications were rejected in 2020. Since asylum seekers actually had to leave the country in these cases and their further stay could no longer be justified, the AfD demanded a corresponding reduction in federal payments to the states.

The potential savings in the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Hubertus Heil’s individual plan would have been 4,46 billion euros. The largest items would have been 1,76 billion euros for the “cost of accommodation” (rent and ancillary costs) and 2,09 billion euros for social assistance payments. But the request was strictly rejected in the budget committee.

It is incomprehensible to the party, “why the federal government supports rejected asylum seekers in Germany instead of consistently deporting them and using the money for their own citizens,” said AfD member of the Bundestag Ulrike Schielke-Ziesing.

It would have been a saving of almost four and a half billion euros, she told Berlin weekly Junge Freiheit. Federal states generally raise massive concerns with every small tax law change in the Federal Council, arguing that their loss of income would be too great, but somehow they shrugged off this saving.

In addition, it would mean faster deportations if benefits for rejected asylum seekers were suspended. Currently, fewer and fewer deportations are carried out. At the end of 2019, 249 922 foreigners were obliged to leave the Federal Republic of Germany. Of these, however, 202 387 foreigners managed to stay on.

There have been no deportation to Syria, even though the civil war there has ended in large parts of the country. This year (January to October) 29 413 asylum seekers claimed to be from Syria. At 35 percent, they were the largest group of the 83 735 asylum seekers (January to October 2020).

In fact, only 22 097 asylum seekers were deported last year. In 2016, 26 375 asylum seekers were deported. Most of the deported are (according to nationality) Albanians (1 604), Nigerians (1 432) and Georgians (1242).

Trump Wants Biden to Prove His 80 Million Votes Aren’t Fraud If He Wants to ‘Enter the White House as President’

Trump Throws Down the Big Gauntlet

Hoo-boy.

On the off chance that your Thanksgiving weekend was undergoing a lull, here’s some pure political entertainment for you.

President Trump decided to hit Twitter with a Black Friday surprise, saying that “Biden can only enter the White House as President” if he can prove that he didn’t get there fraudulently:

I’m sure that everyone is LOL’d a little at Twitter’s red flag at the bottom of the tweet. I’ve got a screenshot just in case Dorsey’s jackboots send the tweet down the memory hole.

As is always the case with Trump’s best trolling, the triggering effect on the libs is worth the price of admission. What they’re calling delusion, conservative Republicans are calling a spine. There is no quit in this president. We’re almost four years into this and that fact is still a new thing for Republicans. We’re just barely getting used to it after decades of weak GOP leaders rolling over and playing dead whenever the Democrats and their media mouthpieces told them to.

A couple of weeks ago I wrote that I want the counting and the law suits to go on as long as possible, both because what’s happening right now is necessary if we’re ever going to be able to stop it in the future, and also just to spite the Democrats after how awful every single one of them has been these past four years.

There is a lot of fight left in President Trump. The surrender monkey Republicans who are telling him to give up are having a rough Thanksgiving Friday now.

And that’s a beautiful thing.

Facebook Rigged Algorithm to Favor Pro-Biden Over Pro-Trump Media

One of the ways Big Tech and media censorship has been justified is coping with the problem of “hyperpartisan” media.

The category, like most disinformation categories, is wholly artificial and the lines around it have been carefully drawn to mostly select conservative outlets with a handful of very obnoxiously lefty pages, like Occupy Democrats, which is a joke even on the Left, dragooned in. But what’s important isn’t as much what’s included as what’s excluded. And while Facebook was suppressing so-called hyperpartisan media, it was boosting CNN, the New York Times, and NPR… partisan outlets.

Or to put it another way, the way the lines were drawn left none or almost no pro-Trump media in the wire, but filled it with pro-Biden media.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg changed the platform’s algorithm following the 2020 election to highlight outlets like CNN, the New York Times and NPR, according to a report from the Times on Tuesday morning. At the same time, Facebook moved to make “hyperpartisan pages,” as the Times put it, like Breitbart and Occupy Democrats less visible in users’ News Feeds, three people familiar with Zuckerberg’s decision told the NYT.

Facebook claimed that it was an “emergency response” to the usual “crisis of democracy” posturing. Temporary suppression of political opponents in response to a crisis of democracy is how you spell “coup” in much of the world.

Here’s a simple cheat sheet. If your response to a disputed election is censorship and propaganda, suppressing political opponents and elevating political supporters, you’re a totalitarian movement seeking to illegitimately seize power.
