50 Freed Coronavirus Inmates Carried Out Crime Spree

Pro-crime policies work. Enact them and you get more crime.

As I discuss in today’s article, thugs killed more people in Chicago than the coronavirus. Freeing thugs as a response to the coronavirus makes as much sense as setting your house on fire to stop flooding in your kitchen.

The Big Apple freed 1,500 criminals from jail. “Today the jail population is at a number last seen in 1949,” the De Blasio administration boasted. As if making Escape from New York a reality by locking up the city’s population with criminals was a good thing, instead of another reason for Bill de Blasio’s next job to involve cleaning out the toilets at Grand Central Station with a toothbrush for the rest of his life.

New York City freed 329 violent felony detainees. But surely violent criminals won’t commit violence.

Meanwhile a fifth of the NYPD is out sick.

The coronavirus jailbreak that freed criminals under the guise of protecting them from the pandemic has endangered everyone’s lives.

Dozens of inmates freed from city jails over fears they were vulnerable to the coronavirus have wasted no time plaguing the city with new crimes, The Post has learned.

At least 50 of the 1,500 inmates cut loose amid fears of the spread of COVID-19 behind bars in recent weeks have already landed back in jail — and in some cases were set free yet again, according to police sources and records.

Of course they were.

Mayor Bill de Blasio’s priority is putting as many criminals back on the street as he can.

The re-offenders — just over 3 percent of those released — include a Rikers Island inmate initially jailed for allegedly setting his girlfriend’s door on fire and choking her mother, who was released early only to return to the Bronx apartment and allegedly threaten to kill the whole family.

Daeshawn Sharperson, the 31-year-old Bronx man who admitted he torched his girlfriend’s door, pleaded guilty to criminal mischief, dodging felony charges, and got a four-month sentence. But his sentence was cut short when he was among about 100 inmates released early on March 26 over COVID-19 concerns.

Eight days later, police say, he returned to the apartment and allegedly threatened to kill the family before attacking a straphanger on two occasions. He is now being held on Rikers Island on $10,000 bail.

Democrats put criminals first and victims last. The coronavirus jailbreaks must stop. They threaten the lives of everyone on the outside.

Greece: Muslim prison inmates attack Christians for drinking alcohol on Easter

Muslim prison inmates attacked Christian prisoners in the Komotini prison, in northeastern Greece, for drinking alcohol on Easter Sunday.

The prison staff had given beer to those prisoners who wanted it as an Easter gesture at noon on the holy day. Those inmates who didn’t want to drink alcohol received soft drinks. But inmates who are originally from Afghanistan and Pakistan were offended by the sight of alcohol being consumed. They first began insulting the Christian prisoners who were drinking, and then physically assaulted them, according to a report by Greek City Times.

Fortunately, the prison staff intervened immediately, which prevented the situation from becoming even worse. But as it was six prisoners were injured, one seriously enough to be taken to a hospital.

The Greek City Times indicated that some of the Muslims involved in the incident are known to have ties to Islamic extremist groups.

The Komotini prison has been reported to house many prisoners involved in illicit trading, and unannounced searches in its cells have often turned up marijuana, alcohol, and even mobile phones.

Prisons across Europe contain a disproportionately high number of Muslim inmates. In Denmark, where more than half of all prison inmates are Muslim, non-Muslim prisoners are pressured to convert to Islam, as previously reported by Voice of Europe.

Coronavirus: EU to pay hotel costs for migrants transferred from Greek islands to mainland

The European Union has agreed to pay for hotel and apartment accommodations for nearly 2,380 migrants who will be transferred from the Aegean Islands to the mainland to avoid coronavirus infection.

The migrant transfer highlights the costs for the European Union and national governments associated with housing, transporting and treating migrants at a time when the coronavirus crisis is leading to massive economic contractions across the continent.

According to Infomigrants, the operation is organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). According to the head of the Greek branch of IOM Gianluca Rocca, migrants in high-risk groups should be provided with temporary accommodation for about two months.

Rocco said during an online press conference that “hoteliers are interested in housing migrants at this point for a limited amount of time, while the ongoing UN program to house refugees will continue as well.”

According to the Greek Ministry of Migration Policy, the transfer should start this week and last for a maximum of two weeks. It is currently unclear how much the transfers and accommodations will cost European taxpayers.

In the first transfer group, there are 200 migrants over 60 years of age. They will be accompanied by their families, the French news agency AFP reported. Then, another 1,700 migrants will also head to the mainland with their families.

In the migrant camps on the Greek islands of Lesbos, Chios, Samos, Leros and Kos, cases of COVID-19 have not yet been reported, while the mainland migrant camps of Ritsona and Malakasa already have dozens of people who tested positive for coronavirus.

It is very difficult to adhere to measures to prevent COVID-19 infection in the overcrowded camps, which are home to about 40,000 migrants.

The transfer of migrants to the mainland comes only a short while after the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) called Greece to use hotels and boats as a temporary quarantine accommodation for migrants. The Greek Ministry of Migration Policy backed this plan, which will be funded by the EU.

According to Rocca, the IOM will try to provide accommodation for 5,000 asylum seekers over the next two months, for example, by renovating older buildings or installing prefabricated houses.

The IOM’s integration program in Greece has also helped 7,753 migrants receive asylum, with 1,294 receiving rent subsidies.

Rocco says that one of the most urgent matters is finding jobs for these migrants after the pandemic is over.

Rocco’s interest finding jobs for migrants come at a time when Greece has the highest youth unemployment rate in all the EU. Although seeking employment for migrants will help them reduce their reliance on benefits, it also creates more competition for Greeks who are already desperately looking for jobs. With tourism in the country destroyed, unemployment is expected to only increase.

Germany begins transferring migrants from Greece

This Saturday, 47 children and minors from migrant camps in Greece also arrived in Hanover, Germany. They will now have to stay in quarantine for two weeks. Most of them come from Afghanistan, and are, on average, 13 years old. Some of them will then move in with families across Germany.

According to Deutsche Welle, originally, 58 minors were supposed to arrive in Germany, but doctors said that 11 of them were too ill to fly by plane. Authorities added that their poor health condition was not due to coronavirus.

The group, which arrived in Germany, is the second group of minors that has left Greece. The first one, consisting of 12 young migrants, landed in Luxembourg last Wednesday.

EU countries have promised to accept 1,600 minors under the Greek relocation program, however, the Czech Republic refused to join the initiative.

Coronavirus: China owes Germany $162 bn in damages, tabloid says, angering Beijing

Germany’s Bild newspaper calculated last week that China owes Berlin around $162 billion in coronavirus damages, prompting a angry response from Beijing, news reports said.

The tabloid’s estimate of damages — over $1,938 per capita if Germany’s GDP falls by 4.2 per cent — was presented in an article headlined, “What China Owes Us.”

The Chinese government and Bild’s top editor, Julian Reichelt, have since exchanged angry messages, according to the Jerusalem Post.

For the Chinese embassy, the Bild story “stirs up xenophobia and nationalism”.

It is “pretty bad style to blame a country for a pandemic that is affecting the whole world and then to present an explicit account of alleged Chinese debts to Germany”, said a spokesperson for the embassy.

Reichelt, in turn, attacked Chinese President Xi Jinping directly, excoriating him over issues ranging from China’s initial handling of the pandemic to surveillance and rights, the Post said.

There has, in fact, been a chorus of concern over the manner in which Beijing tackled the virus, which first emerged in Wuhan city, the capital of Hubei province.

US President Donald Trump, for example, has said China should face consequences if it was “knowingly responsible” for the pandemic.

Known as SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus has caused nearly 2.4 million infections and more than 160,000 deaths worldwide, paralysing life and business in major cities.

Germany: Iraqi lodger beats his landlady bloody with a stone

Neighbours called the police around 6 a. m. because they had heard screams and cries for help from the house next door at Möllers Kamp in the Hamburg district of Bergedorf. There the 22-year-old man from Iraq, who lived with his victim in a sublet and was looked after by him, had got into an argument with the woman. In the course of the dispute he is said to have punched the 59-year-old in the face several times. According to the police’s initial findings, he then reached for a stone which he is said to have kept in his room and hit the woman’s head with it. This caused several lacerations. When the police and paramedics knocked on the door, the man, dressed only in underpants and a T-shirt with a “Punisher” image, opened the door and let himself be arrested without resistance. To preserve evidence, the officers protected the man’s hands with plastic bags and handcuffed him.
The emergency doctor and ambulance service cared for the severely injured woman, who was apparently in shock. They brought her in an ambulance to the Boberg accident hospital, where her wounds were stitched. Meanwhile, police in Hamburg-Alsterdorf took the 22-year-old into custody. According to a police spokesman, the man had already been violent and had exhibited unusual behaviour in the past, which led to criminal charges. He is now being examined by a psychiatrist for his mental state.
A total of three police cars, two ambulances and an emergency ambulance were on duty. The road was blocked for about 30 minutes.

Germany: Afghan man known to the police as a sex offender carries on because he is not going to be deported

Last night a young woman (22 years old) from Hanover was sexually harassed on the train during the journey from Braunschweig to Hanover. The woman was travelling with her friend (23 years old). Shortly before Hanover a young man (20 years old) sat down opposite the woman. Then the Afghan man looked the 22-year-old in the eyes and showed her a condom. The woman made it clear to the man, disgusted and clearly, that she was not interested in him. The Afghan stood up, gave her a kiss on the mouth and immediately got out of the train in Hannover. The women chased the man and called the police. Federal police officers were able to arrest and investigate the 20-year-old from Bemerode at the main station. The Afghan is known to the police as a sex offender, drug user and for numerous other crimes. A further procedure for sexual harassment has been initiated and the surveillance video recordings from the train have been secured.

Has Paris water been contaminated by Covid-19?

Has Parisian water been contaminated by the Coronavirus? According to the mayor of Paris there is no reason for panic, despite the discovery of “small traces” of the virus in the city’s non-potable water network.

As FranceInfo indicated, this water is usually only used to clean the streets and traces of the virus have only been discovered on “4 of the 27 sampling points tested” according to the laboratory of the municipal water authority from Paris. In addition, this network is a “completely independent network” added the town hall authority.

But online news outlet 20 minutes confirmed that the City immediately decided to suspend the use of the network as a “precautionary measure”. It also added that the other network, the one used for everyday consumption, was not affected. “It [the water] can be consumed without any risk”.

“The non-potable water network is supplied by so-called raw water taken from the Seine and the Ourcq canal, routed without heavy treatment” the city declared. This water is used to water parks and gardens, clean streets and operate waterfalls for example.

The assistant to the mayor of Paris in charge of the ecological transition, Célia Blauel, decided to seize the Regional health agency so that it could “analyze the possible risks presented by these traces”.

“We have an in-house laboratory, we are the first to have these results and to sound the alarm,” she said. The mayor of Paris hopes to have the results in the course of next week.

Coronavirus Taboos: Primal Fear of Contagion

You go to the supermarket wearing a mask and gloves. You wince every time you pick up a piece of fruit or vegetable wondering how many other people touched it or worse coughed on it. You fill your cart as fast as you can trying to buy only prepackaged foods. Then you brace yourself for the fear and loathing of the checkout line. Your anxiety increases because the person in line is standing too close to you. You see that the cashier just handled cash, OMG cash, you are frantically trying to remember what they said about how long the virus lives on money. Decision after decision, plastic or paper, you want to save the sea turtles, but does it live longer on paper or plastic, a moral dilemma. You finally make it to your car. You put the groceries in, you start the car and breathe a sigh of relief. Then you realize that you didn’t take your plastic gloves off until after you touched the steering wheel. More anxiety realizing you just contaminated the wheel and used the last of the wipes you keep in the car. Prior to the pandemic anyone even remotely thinking and behaving this way would be diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder.

The coronavirus pandemic has awakened a dormant primal fear of contagion and long suppressed tribal instincts. Throughout history, rites of purity evolved to protect communities from both physical and spiritual contamination by designating specific things as taboo and impure. Customs, rules, prohibitions and highly codified notions of impurity evolved to avoid dangerous contagion. Impurity is not just manifested in disease it is also associated with enemies, corpses, bodily functions, corruption, social upheaval, violence, strange, anomalous or inexplicable phenomena, and contact with ‘others.’ Often referred to as ritual uncleanness, impurity is an inherent quality of taboo things. Whether in the form of a specific virus or mob violence, impurity is experienced as a form of contagion because it is believed that it may spread from one individual or object to other members of society.

Impurity is intrinsically intertwined with designated societal taboos and can only be mitigated by purification rituals. Rites of purity are found in all known cultures and religions, are expressed in a wide variety of forms, and function to remove specifically defined uncleanness. Until the coronavirus pandemic the concept of impurity in American culture was primarily relegated to toilet training and the academic field of anthropology.

Many new rituals, social conventions and taboos surrounding hygiene, food, clothing and other customs have evolved to mitigate contagion of the virus. The fear of infection has resulted in taboos on handshaking, hugging or coughing in public. Purification rituals now include a variety of ablutions such as ritual hand washing, repetitive cleaning and regular disinfecting of doorknobs and other surfaces.  New social conventions include mask and glove wearing, taking shoes off indoors, leaving packages outside and not touching your own face. These and other significant changes took hold in just three weeks. Fear of deadly contagion is a powerful influence.

Social distancing has awakened another dormant instinct, tribalism. The consequences of primal fear of infection is that you only feel safe in your home, among your family and in your community. Tribal communities are closed orders and are characterized by an ‘us versus them’ philosophy. Enforcing boundaries, borders and territories is no longer an option when it is a matter of survival. When it is ‘you versus them’ you cannot afford the luxury of political correctness, multiculturalism or cultural diversity unless you want to risk dying from excessive virtue signaling. Ironically, identity politics is inherently tribal so as long as the protected classes continue their elitist exclusionary policies, they will survive to continue fighting over which one of them is most discriminated against.

In tribal societies communities have to cleanse themselves by excluding, expelling, or proscribing the things and people whose presence contaminates the community. The coronavirus epidemic immediately elicited innate tribal instincts. Florida, North Carolina, Rhode Island and vacation towns across the country began implementing special prohibitions on people entering their states from places with high infection rates. Local officials in the Outer Banks area of North Carolina required proof of permanent residence in order to access the area. Florida and Rhode Island governors ordered all incoming New Yorkers to self-quarantine. Florida set up checkpoints on Interstate 95 and other northern borders to screen motorists traveling from the New York City area. Rhode Island’s National Guard and state police stopped motorists with New York license plates and went door-to-door to enforce the quarantine. Tribal instincts emerge when it is a biological imperative.

Media reports of people transgressing the new taboos by intentionally coughing on produce and spitting in people’s faces increased fear and tribalism. Customers at a Stop and Shop grocery store in Kingston, Massachusetts had to tackle a man who coughed and spat on produce. Violation of purity taboos not only results in physical contamination but breaking a taboo is the equivalent of unleashing corruption, social upheaval, violence and evil upon the community. When one person can easily contaminate the entire community dread of coronavirus infection escalates from a physical threat and is experienced as an existential fear.

Tribal cultures interpret the world through magical thinking. Unlike rational thought, magical thinking is completely unscientific and a reverse reasoning of causal relationships. While some purification rituals such as washing your hands are based on science and understood as a method of avoiding germs to mitigate the physical threat, fear of contagious evil requires magical thinking to mitigate the existential threat of impurity.

Outsiders are not only impure but more significantly, they begin to symbolize evil in the form of contagious pollution. The impure ‘other’ is experienced both physically and spiritually as a mysterious and harmful substance of the outside world which keeps attacking, contaminating, defiling, and infecting your grocery store, your neighborhood your community. Families have to protect themselves and their communities against this threat of defilement and have to expel it once the contamination has taken place. Violence as an expiation ritual is justified.

Obsessive, chronic behaviors performed to ward off feelings of uncleanness are fertile ground for the fomenting of violence, intolerance and fear. Extremists understand the fear of contagion and are exploiting the coronavirus to recruit, indoctrinate and inspire attacks against non-whites, Jews and law enforcement. The symbolism of contagion is found throughout extremist propaganda in both overt and subliminal images and language. It is calculated to stigmatize ‘others’ as infectious disease to evoke fears of contagion, death and annihilation. Relegating the other to disease makes it easier to commit violence.

Extremists have repackaged antisemitic conspiracy theories for the coronavirus to incite hatred and fear. Extremists have a long history of adopting Nazi themes and symbols in their propaganda including the strategy of depicting Jews as dirty, filthy, impure life-threatening agents of disease and corruption. Accusing Jews of creating pandemics, disease and more goes all the way back to the black plaque. Muslim and Arab media exploited the 2009 swine flu epidemic to stigmatize Jews as infectious disease and extremists are currently accusing Jews of creating the coronavirus to seize power and money.

Recent white supremacists’ communications suggested targeting law enforcement agents and non-white people with attacks designed to infect them with the coronavirus. They said it was an “obligation to spread it should any of them contract the virus.” Extremists detailed several methods for coronavirus attacks including spending time in public with perceived enemies, leaving “saliva on door handles” at local FBI offices, spitting on elevator buttons and spreading coronavirus germs in “nonwhite neighborhoods.” Also spraying saliva from spray bottles on the faces of law enforcement and committing crimes and leaving coronavirus laced items at the scene for detectives to find.

Extremists know exactly how to exploit and trigger deep seated fears of contagion. They exploit vulnerable and frightened people who feel that their way of life is being threatened. They blame the disease on non-whites, Jews and law enforcement to target them as the community scapegoats. They understand that primal fear of contagion requires ritually purging the community of the evil dirty polluted ‘other’. Violence is sanctioned and justified because it has been transformed into a purification ritual. Instead of killing police, Jews and non-whites you are just cleansing the community of contagious disease. Primal fear of contagion generates primal violence. Rational thinking is replaced with tribal magical thinking, law and order is replaced with law of the jungle. Culture devolves quickly.
