Holy figure vandalised at the historic Minster Church in Neumarkt, Germany

Between November 18, 2020, approx. 8 p.m., and November 19, 2020, approx. 7:15 a.m., a previously unknown perpetrator knocked a sandstone statue of a saint that weighed about 50 kilograms off its pedestal. The statue of St. John stood in front of the side entrance to the cathedral at the entrance to the street Hallertorstraße. The approximately one metre high figure stood on a pedestal at a height of two metres and broke when it fell down. The material damage amounts to at least 2,000 €.The police station Neumarkt / Upper Palatinate asks for information on the perpetrators by calling 09181/48 85-0.
