Trump: We’re gonna have a great night and a great 4 years

US President Donald Trump, facing a fierce battle for reelection today, delivered words of encouragement to his campaign staff at his campaign headquarters in Arlington, Virginia Tuesday.

“We just got back. We had some incredible rallies and incredible times and I hear we’re doing very well in Florida, and we’re doing very well in Arizona, we’re doing incredibly well in Texas… I’m hearing we’re doing well all over,” Trump told his campaign staff.

Trump predicted that he would win today’s election. “We’re gonna have a great night and… much more importantly we’re gonna have a great four years.”

The president added that he feels “great” after holding a number of rallies in battleground states in the last days of the campaign.

“When you see rallies the likes of which in the history of this country, probably in the history of the world, nobody’s ever seen before,” Trump said. “There’s a tremendous love going on in this country and there’s really a tremendous unity… nobody’s ever seen that. Where you take an airport and the airport’s not big enough to hold the crowds. Nobody’s ever seen a thing like that.”

“Our opposition as you know would have a few people sitting in circles, and that’s ok, that’s not abnormal… But we would get crowds of 50,000 people, 45,000 people more. Nobody’s ever seen anything like that. So, it was an honor. They’re great people. These are people that they appreciate what we did and they also remember before I got there and before we all got there.”

“I really came here to thank you all and I’m gonna say and get immediately back to work,” Trump told his campaign staff.

Former Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu says that Erdoğan is more dangerous than Covid-19

Former Turkish Prime Minister and former AKP party leader Ahmet Davutoğlu has brought together the leadership of his new political party (the “Future Party”) and called for new elections.

In his speech on November 1, 2020, he denounced Turkey’s decline into a form of “tribal state” characterised by “a lack of electoral opportunities”. He condemned the “culture of despotism” that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is bringing to the country.

Above all, he said that Erdoğan is the biggest threat that Europe has to face, worse than Covid-19.

Professor Davutoğlu is a professor specialising in international relations. In his book Stratejik derinlik: Türkiye ‘nin uluslararası konumu (Strategic Depth: Turkey’s International Situation), he describes a period of stabilisation (“zero problems with its neighbours”) followed by neo-Ottoman policies throughout the Muslim world; a policy he led from 2001 to 2016. Since being in opposition, he first condemned the personality cult of President Erdoğan and nowadays his claim to be recognised as the new Caliph of Islam in 2023.

VIDEO: Girl is forced to kneel and then robbed by ‘youth’ in Belgium

A girl was forced to kneel in front of a group of “young people” in the small Belgian town of Geel and subsequently threatened and robbed by them, local news portal Sceptr reports.

The incident happened at the Geel train station, and while police — who were still conducting the investigation — did not reveal the attackers’ identity, their statements indicate that it could have been the work of immigrants.

Since yesterday, video images of the incident have been widely shared on social media. It shows how a young girl is forced to kneel in front of a group of young people who appear to be ecstatic about the situation. They have been made unrecognizable on the images so that the identity of the perpetrators is not clear.

The police have also begun an investigation after becoming aware of the video and details of the case.

“On Friday afternoon, an incident occurred at Geel station that is part of a broad and complex problem that starts with bullying and ends with criminal offenses,” the police described the facts to news portal HLN.

HLN reports that it is not the first time such an incident has taken place and that the suspects are already known by the police.

“Everyone involved is known both in the more extensive issue and in this incident,” police said.

It is not clear whether the suspects have since been arrested and questioned.

Trump now leads in Nevada, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Michigan

President Donald Trump now narrowly leads former Vice President Joe Biden in multiple battleground states, according to polling data released by the Trafalgar Group Monday and Tuesday morning.

The polls show support for the president surging in some battleground states, including Nevada, where Trump lost to Hillary Clinton four years ago.

The latest Trafalgar poll, released Tuesday morning, gives Trump a razor-thin 0.7-point lead over Biden in Nevada, with Trump polling at 49.1% to Biden’s 48.4%.

That marks a 3-point swing in Trump’s favor over the last few days.

The previous Trafalgar Group poll, conducted on October 29th, showed Biden leading Trump 49.4% to 47.1%.

This is the first time this year that Trump has led Biden in a Nevada poll.

Of the 1,088,775 ballots already cast in Nevada, 39.5% have been cast by registered Democrats, with 36.1% cast by registered Republicans.

A second poll released by Trafalgar Tuesday morning shows Trump with a 2.1-point lead over Biden in Florida, 49.4% to 47.3%.

A third poll released Tuesday morning gives Trump a 4.3-point lead in Georgia, just under the 5-point margin Trump won the state by in 2016. According to the poll, Trump is projected to win the state 49.7% to 45.4%.

In Pennsylvania, Trump holds a 1.9-point lead, 47.8% to 45.9%, according to a poll released Monday evening by Trafalgar.

In Ohio, Trump leads by 4.8 points, 49.2% to 44.4% – far below the eight-point margin he won the state by in 2016.

Trump also leads Biden in Michigan, with 48.3% to Biden’s 45.8%.

In North Carolina, Trump has a slightly narrower lead of 2.1 points, 48.6% to 46.5%.

5 dead in Vienna attack; assailant had previous conviction

Five people died, including an assailant, and 17 others were wounded in a shooting in the heart of Vienna hours before a coronavirus lockdown started, Austrian authorities said Tuesday. The dead attacker was a 20-year-old Austrian-North Macedonian dual national who had a previous terror conviction.

Two men and two women died from their injuries in the attack Monday evening, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said. The suspected attacker was shot and killed by police.

Vienna’s hospital service said seven people were in life-threatening condition Tuesday after the attack, the Austrian news agency APA reported. In total, 17 people were being treated in hospitals, with gunshot wounds but also cuts.

“It is now confirmed that yesterday’s attack was clearly an Islamist terror attack,” Kurz said. “It was an attack out of hatred — hatred for our fundamental values, hatred for our way of life, hatred for our democracy in which all people have equal rights and dignity.”

Interior Minister Karl Nehammer later told APA that the dead assailant, who had roots in the Balkan nation of North Macedonia, had a previous conviction under a law that punishes membership in terrorist organizations.

The attacker, named as Kujtim Fejzulai, was sentenced to 22 months in prison in April 2019 because he had tried to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State group. He was granted early release in December under juvenile law.

Fifteen house searches have taken place and several people have been arrested, he added. The attacker, he said, “was equipped with a fake explosive vest and and an automatic rifle, a handgun and a machete to carry out this repugnant attack on innocent citizens.”

Authorities were still trying to determine whether further attackers may be on the run. People in Vienna were urged to stay at home if possible on Tuesday and children did not have to go to school. Some 1,000 police officers were on duty in Vienna on Tuesday morning.

Among those wounded in the attack was a police officer, said Nehammer. The 28-year-old officer was in the hospital but was no longer in a life-threatening condition.

The shooting began shortly after 8 p.m. (1900 GMT) Monday near Vienna’s main synagogue as many people were enjoying a last night of open restaurants and bars before a month-long coronavirus lockdown, which started at midnight.

Vienna police chief Gerhard Puerstl said the attacker was killed at 8:09 p.m.

Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said that “we are victims of a despicable terror attack in the federal capital.”

His government on Tuesday ordered three days of official mourning, with flags on public buildings to be flown at half-staff until Thursday, APA reported. A minute of silence was to be held at noon Tuesday.

Unverified footage posted on social media showed a gunman walking through the streets, apparently shooting at people at random, wounding several. It was unclear whether the person seen shooting was the same individual in each video.

Rabbi Schlomo Hofmeister said he saw at least one person shoot at people sitting outside at bars in the street below his window near the city’s main synagogue.

“They were shooting at least 100 rounds just outside our building,” Hofmeister said. “All these bars have tables outside. This evening is the last evening before the lockdown.”

Authorities said residents have uploaded 20,000 videos of the attack to police.

U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted Monday night as he prepared for his final rally ahead of Election Day: “Our prayers are with the people of Vienna after yet another vile act of terrorism in Europe.”

“These evil attacks against innocent people must stop,” Trump added. “The U.S. stands with Austria, France, and all of Europe in the fight against terrorists, including radical Islamic terrorists.”

Brutal attack on nun in Graz, Austria: Afghan man arrested

It is an outrageous crime, which, as reported, happened Saturday afternoon in a public bus in Graz. After evaluation of the video material it becomes clear how brutal the attack on the nun was. The State Office for the Protection of the Constitution took over the investigation.A suspect was quickly tracked down thanks to the police.

The attack came out of the blue. Without argument or address. Suddenly the young man raised his arm and struck the 76 year old woman on the head with full force. So hard that her hearing aid fell out. Physically, she remained unharmed. She was well under the circumstances. She had a stable psyche. However, the nuns are still afraid that something worse might happen next time, that he might have a knife.

When asked by the newspaper “Steirerkrone”, the police press office announced on Monday that the investigations had now been taken over by the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Counter-Terrorism. A suspect has been investigated in the meantime.

It has to do with a 19-year-old Afghan who was already known to the police for various drug-related offences. He had come to Austria at the end of 2015, but in the meantime an asylum withdrawal procedure is in progress due to his criminal record. He admitted the incident with the nun in the interrogations, but says that he had been abused by her before.

After his interrogation, the suspect was admitted to hospital.
