The popularity rating of the President of the French Republic is in steep decline, to the point that he could beat François Hollande’s unpopularity record.

The polls that follow on each other have all been looking the same for the executive. Even more so for the head of state, revealed a new survey commissioned by French daily Le Figaro with pollster Kantar-One Point.

The president and his Prime Minister are in free fall and moreover the thorny issue of pension reform has only degraded their images. Since last September, Emmanuel Maron’s confidence rating has dropped by 8 points “to reach 24 percent”.

This “trend” all the more worrying for Emmanuel Macron who, if it continues, could reach or exceed the lowest ever recorded score by a president, namely that of François Hollande. Convicted sex offenders in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia were granted permission to visit prostitutes in brothels as part of their “therapy”.

The Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL) confirmed reports from German media that patients of a psychiatry clinic in the penal system of Lippstadt-Eickelborn were allowed to visit brothels, although the prostitutes themselves were not informed of the programme, Kronen Zeitung reports.

The visits were allegedly allowed in order for the sex offenders to gain experience with women and is not the first time such a policy has been implemented in Germany in the recent past.

According to the paper, the Osnabrück penal system in Lower Saxony tried a similar method in 2001, inviting a prostitute to a psychiatric clinic as part of an experiment to allow intellectually impaired sex offenders practice sexual intercourse without violence.

Both the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the party of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and the Green Party announced they would be submitting inquiries in Lower Saxony over the revelations.

Prostitution is a legal practice in Germany but is still largely associated with gang crime and people trafficking.

In October of last year, German police raided gangs suspected of people trafficking in four different states in the Rhineland, Westphalia, Saarland, and Berlin. In North Rhine-Westphalia alone, police say around 10,000 people may be working for Arab clans linked to prostitution and drug trafficking.

Along with people trafficking, prostitution has attracted many asylum seekers in recent years, with Germany seeing a particular problem with underage asylum seekers selling their bodies for cash or for drugs.

In 2017, journalists Natalie Amiri and Anna Tillack spoke to a man in Berlin who claimed that men would engage ins ex acts with asylum seeker children in the asylum home where he stayed for as little as a pack of cigarettes while the asylum home workers would turn the other way.

The Latin American branch of the US-based Jewish advocacy group Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) has launched a campaign to prevent Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters from performing on tour in Mexico, AFP reported on Friday.

Waters, 76, is due on stage in Mexico City on October 7 as part of his “This Is Not A Drill” North American tour that begins in Pittsburgh in July.

The SWC, which supports Holocaust survivors and confronts anti-Semitism, has written to businesses sponsoring and promoting Waters’ concert in Mexico, urging them to pull out, according to AFP.

“Your company’s prestige should not be stained by those that use music to camouflage discrimination and the diffusion of a violent and racist message,” said the letter, signed by SWC international relations directors Shimon Samuels and Ariel Gelblung.

Waters is notorious for his support for BDS and for his anti-Israel statements and actions.

The rock artist has verbally attacked and pressured many artists who chose to perform in Israel over the last several years.

Waters has in the past compared Israel to Nazi Germany and released a giant balloon pigbearing the Star of David during a concert in Belgium. Concert-goers said the Jewish star was among several symbols representing various corporations and fascist movements.

In defense of his actions, Waters argues that BDS “isn’t about music – it’s about human rights.”

The SWC accused Waters of anti-Semitism over his use of the inflatable pig during previous concerts.

“These images refer to medieval German anti-Semitic iconography,” said the center, which launched a “Resist the Racist” campaign the last time Waters performed in Mexico in 2018.

Last week, the leadership of B’nai B’rith International criticized Major League Baseball’s involvement in the sale of tickets for Roger Waters’ North American tour.

“Waters is an avowed anti-Semite whose views on Jews and Israel far exceed the boundaries of civil discourse,” the heads of the organization wrote MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, adding they were “saddened and outraged that baseball … would use its online resources to publicize an individual with an alarming history of anti-Semitic hatred. We call on MLB to cease providing Roger Waters a platform.”

A criminal court in West Flanders, Belgium has sentenced a military-aged male from Afghanistan to eight months in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl on the train.

Earlier this week, Irfanullah M, aged 33, was convicted of assaulting a 16-year-old girl on the train between Roeselare and Kortrijk back in January of 2019, Het Laatste Nieuws reports.

Irfanullah M., after realizing that the 16-year-old girl on the train was short three euros for the fare, offered to pay the three euros. But his intentions weren’t pure. Shortly after, the military-aged Afghan sat down next to the teenage girl, began harassing her, and even assaulted her.

According to the victim’s testimony, Irfanullah M. tried to kiss her and rubbed his breasts and buttocks with his hands in a sexually suggestive manner. Following the assault, the man sent the girl a friend request on Facebook, allowing police to easily identify him.

In court, the teenage victim said that the experience “left a deep impression” that remains a year later.

“I know nothing,” the 33-year-old Afghan told the judge. “I have a wife and children. I have never done anything bad. Can I appeal?”

Despite M’s claims, the judge had little sympathy and sentenced him to eight months in prison, half of which he’ll serve. In addition to his sentence, the judge ordered M to pay the victim 750 euros for her pain and suffering and pay a fine of 400 euros. The judge also barred Irfanullah M. from holding any positions of authority over minors for five years.

On the 05th of February 2020, around 6:30 pm, two men were physically attacked in Magdeburg.

The two men, aged 31 and 42, were in the Breiter Weg/Alter Markt area when a group of people approached them and behaved loudly. The 31-year-old addressed the group, whereupon a verbal argument erupted. Subsequently, both men were beaten by persons from the group. When the 31-year-old was lying on the floor, he was additionally kicked. Afterwards the group of people moved away towards the university square. The two men suffered injuries and were treated as outpatients in the hospital.
