Federal officers have had to be deployed to defend federal properties, because having succumbed to liberalism, local officials will not maintain public order. Wheeler has predictably sided with the rioters.

Berlin police have been conducting raids in the facilities of alleged Islamists since Wednesday morning, Berlin’s public prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday.

“Currently, investigators of the Berlin Criminal Investigation Division, at the request of the prosecutor’s office, are executing 20 search warrants against 12 people suspected of having links to Islamist circles and having committed various crimes, including the financing of terrorism,” the office wrote on Twitter.

Hungary’s ruling conservative Fidesz party protested against the recently unveiled statue of the leader of the Russian revolutionary Vladimir Ilyich Lenin in the western German city of Gelsenkirchen, conservative daily Magyar Nemzet reports.

“All the while that the politicians of the European Union make enthusiastic statements about reigning in extremist manifestations, in one of their member states today they celebrate the mass murderer and creator of the totalitarian Soviet state, a fact that does not register with those who so often criticize Hungary,” Fidesz said in a statement released to national news agency MTI.

They added that public remembrance of Lenin offends the memory of the victims of Communism and of their descendants.

The statement also said that on behalf of the party, Fidesz MEP Andrea Bocskor will address a written question to the European Commission, asking what concrete measures they plan to prevent worshiping the promoters of totalitarian ideologies. The Fidesz MEP group also called on the European Commission to take steps so that such extremist phenomena can be prevented in Germany.

The best-selling European newspaper – The German tabloid Bild – with the sixteenth-largest circulation worldwide, has refused to conduct interviews with the country’s largest opposition party.

The AfD has sharply criticized the decision of Bild editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt not to conduct interviews with AfD politicians. “It is inconceivable that a medium like the Bild newspaper is in the service of established politics and distances itself from the largest opposition party, the AfD,” said the media spokesman for the AfD parliamentary group in the Bundestag, Martin Renner on Monday.
