Syrian refugee arrested for violent attack on Austrian Jewish leader

The Austrian authorities apprehended a Syrian refugee on Sunday for allegedly attacking the leader of the Jewish community in the city of Graz.According to a report in the mass circulation paper Kronen, police officers arrested the 26-year-old Syrian suspect in Graz. He had fled Syria six years ago; his name was not released.

The Jerusalem Post reported on Sunday that an assailant on Saturday attacked the president of the tiny Jewish community in Austria’s second largest city, with what is believed to have been a baseball bat. When Elie Rosen, head of the 150-member Jewish community, left his car, he was attacked by the stranger with a wooden stick and managed to escape back into the car. The attacker hit Rosen’s vehicle with a bat before he fled. The Graz synagogue was attacked twice over the past week. Last Wednesday, antisemitic pro-Palestinian graffiti was smeared on the building. The slogan “Free Palestine” was written on the synagogue, a phrase that typically means the elimination of the Jewish state.“In Graz, we are dealing with a stronger left wing and anti-Israel antisemitism,” he said. “We can clearly determine that.” The attack was not carried out by right-wing extremists, Rosen told the daily Wiener Zeitung.

It is unclear if the Syrian man is also being charged with defacing the synagogue. In a letter to Rosen, Shimon Samuels, director for international relations for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, wrote: “You carry a great responsibility for the phoenix character of rebirth of the Graz synagogue, burned down in the Kristallnacht Reichspogrom of 1938. Yet we find troubling the recidivist assaults on the synagogue, first the outer wall smeared with Palestinian activist slogans, next the smashing of windows, followed by this attack against you.”Samuels added that: “You have received expressions of support from political leaders across all parties in Austria. They must also take action to prevent recurrence, by timely identification, indictment and punishment of the perpetrators.”The Simon Wiesenthal Center stands in solidarity with you and your community.”

Germany claims Hungary has ‘rampant’ anti-Semitism despite sharp rise in anti-Semitic crimes in Germany

German Federal Minister of State for European Affairs Michael Roth has claimed that anti-Semitism is ‘rampant in Hungary, sparking a diplomatic dispute between the two countries.

Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó summoned Germany’s ambassador to Hungary over the remarks Roth made over the weekend in an interview, Szijjártó wrote on his Facebook page

“Because of yesterday’s remarks of German Social-Democrat state minister Michael Roth, in which he leveled accusations of anti-Semitism against Hungary, I have summoned Germany’s ambassador to Budapest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for Monday morning,” Szijjártó wrote.

He also added that Roth’s accusations allegations were completely unfounded:

“Dear Michael! Please allow me (since we have known each other for a long time, we are in a quarrelsome relationship) to draw your attention to the fact that the Jewish community in Hungary is safe, our Jewish compatriots do not have to be afraid, their cultural festivals do not need fully armed soldiers, synagogues and cemeteries we rebuilt it with public funding and were proud hosts of the European Maccabi Games last year,” Szijjártó wrote in another Facebook post. “Respectfully, please put an end to the unworthy attack of the Hungarian people, and if I may suggest it, before you next speak on such a serious subject, please make sure that your own house is in order.”

Szijjrtó was referring to an interview with Roth published by Germany’s largest news portal, to-online.de in which the German politician was speaking about Hungary and Poland distancing themselves from democracy.

In it, Roth said “One aspect that led to the Article 7 case against Hungary was rampant anti-Semitism in Hungary. I cannot speak critically about anti-Semitism in other countries without mentioning the appalling increase in anti-Semitic crimes in Germany.”

Compared to the rest of Europe, Hungary has remarkably low rates of anti-Semitic attacks, with data from just the past several years showing that Jews are far safer in Hungary than in many other major European countries.  A report from the European Union’s Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) found that Hungary actually had the lowest rate of reported anti-Semitic incidents in the EU-12 countries, and also showed that reports of anti-Semitism were far lower in Hungary than in countries like France, Germany, Belgium.

Despite the German minister’s claims, anti-Semitic crimes are actually on the rise in Germany, with 1,268 recorded in 2010 compared to 2,032 in 2020.

Even German state media has pointed to an increase in anti-Semitism in the country. The country has also been accused of downplaying anti-Semitic attacks committed by Muslims. According to the Times of Israel:

In a 2016 survey of hundreds of German Jews who had experienced anti-Semitic incidents, 41 percent said the perpetrator was “someone with a Muslim extremist view” and another 16 percent said it was someone from the far left. Only 20 percent identified their aggressors as belonging to the far-right.

Earlier this year, a prominent member of Hungary’s Jewish community defended Hungary, saying Jews felt safe and that Jewish life was flourishing in Hungary despite media portrayals otherwise.

Szijjártó is currently on his first trip to China since the coronavirus outbreak and Deputy Minister Levente Magyar will meet with the German ambassador in his stead.

Corpses pave their race circuits: The Testeron Migrants in Germany

Once again, there is collateral damage to be lamented because the future rulers of this country are demanding their right to run free:In Dresden on Saturday evening, a 6-year-old boy was killed because two Syrians aged 31 and 23 years with their luxury cars – a BMW and a Mercedes – engaged in an illegal road race. Both cars were “at very high speed”, according to the police. On the Budapester Street in the direction of the downtown area, the horsepower Syrians roared their engines and stepped on the gas – after all, according to the old fathers’ custom among proud Arabs, it is a matter of clarifying who is the more powerful at the wheel.Negligible matters such as traffic regulations, other road users, or the lives of passers-by, especially children, have to take second place to these really important questions. These adult teenagers know that they are allowed to do whatever they want in this country – and they show it.As reported by the tabloid “Bild”, the Mercedes and the BMW chased towards the intersection with the Schweizer Street. Shortly before the junction, first the Mercedes, then the BMW overtook an uninvolved car that was “significantly slower” (meaning: moving at normal speed). In a breakneck maneuver, the Benz switched back into the right lane in a flash, and the BMW caught up with it in the left lane. Both cars were approaching a bus stop where, according to the police, three children were crossing the road from the central green belt. Two of the children made it to the sidewalk, but the six-year-old – also of Syrian nationality, by the way – was hit by the speeding Mercedes shortly before reaching the edge of the road;he was catapulted several meters through the air into the bus stop, smashed through the glass and landed on the hard pavement. With severe internal injuries, the boy was taken by the ambulance to the hospital, where he died a little later. Both driving licenses of the speeders were seized. As police reported yesterday, the Mercedes driver is under investigation “for negligent homicide and dangerous interference with traffic”. In addition, both drivers are under “investigation for a prohibited motor vehicle race”, according to the tabloid “Bild” – a criminal farce in view of the terrible results. However, if the Saxon judiciary should follow the latest jurisdiction, which classifies the killing of bystanders in car races as murder, then at least the 31-year-old speed killer faces a far harsher punishment – as recently in the so-called “Ku’damm verdict” of Berlin. In the then comparable speeding driver case from 2016, in which a 69-year-old man fell victim to a race between two testosterone Orientals, the deja vu description of the offender had read: “male, early 20s, migration background”.Whether it will come to that, is questionable. Presumably, the Greens, the Left Party and the Social Democratic Party (SPD) will lodge a protest in time against the Dresden police or against the racist judiciary – because of too hard measures against the two Syrians. It will certainly turn out to be a clear case of “Racial Profiling”.

French seaside resort in grip of extreme violence

This summer, the inhabitants of the Hérault seaside resort has experienced exceptional violence. In Palavas-les-Flots, the problem is “young people from the Parisian suburbs”.

The small town of 6 000 inhabitants definitely can’t take it anymore. Located in the Hérault, Palavas-les-Flots is facing an unprecedented wave of violence, explained regional daily Midi Libre.

Traders have to fight “young people from the Parisian suburbs”. The daily even speaks of an “overheated atmosphere” on Friday August 21 at the seaside resort. Finally, after one of these brawls, which the police struggled to put an end to, a police officer was allegedly beaten. The town has become the symbol of a summer filled with immigrant youth delinquency.

A fight indeed broke out in the shop of a shopkeeper, Margot, taken to task by a Muslim family from Marseille, before her stepfather, a municipal police officer, intervened. “They were asked to pay attention to the clothes. The tone rose. Then we told them about masks which are compulsory in public. […] When I said I was going to call the police, things got out of hand. They broke everything. They beat up my grandmother who is 70 years old,” said the shopkeeper. Margot has sustained head injuries is now forced to wear a neck brace while her stepfather had his nose and elbow broken.

Margot described the atmosphere: “People were saying, ‘there’s a policeman on the ground, we’re going to kill him. We have to go lynch him’.”

Small business owners decided to demonstrate once again in the streets, as well as in front of the police station of Palavas-les-Flots, in order to denounce what they call an “abandonment” by the authorities. In the evening, the same group organised a “dead city” operation. Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin denounced the “unacceptable violence”.

On August 7, France Bleu reported the words of Christian Jeanjean, mayor of the city of Hérault: “Young people come to let off steam.” But his comment only ignited more anger.

Some 300 angry residents had previously demonstrated in front of the municipal police building to express their concern at the rising incivility, rodeos of cars and motorcycles in the streets at night, loud music on the beach and waste thrown anywhere.

They marched “against the delinquency and insecurity” as a result of visiting Muslim immigrant youths.

Father gets his head smashed in for asking Muslim teen to wait his turn

On Thursday August 20, at Pont-de-Roide, on the Doubs river, a father came close to death for having asked two Muslim teens to wait their turn to jump from the diving board, explained regional French daily L’Est Républicain.

At around 4:30 pm, the 38-year-old man lined up with his children when a teenager decided to jump the long queue at the popular diving board – a favorite attraction. The victim had been waiting patiently for his turn to jump into the river when the teenager planted himself brazenly in front of him.

“The father asked him to wait his turn”, said the chief of the Montbéliard gendarmerie. The minor became upset and tried to punch the father before he left to round up his friends. One of them returned equipped with a heavy-duty construction hammer and hit the father on the head with a blow of extreme violence.

Still conscious but seriously injured, the victim was hospitalized.

Law enforcement of Pont-de-Roide arrested two young residents of Valentigney. One of the minors, aged 16, is suspected of the first violence. The second, 17, is said to be the hammer attacker.

The two Muslim teens had already stood out earlier in the day during a Covid-19 check on the bus to the diving spot, in which they were fined for non-compliance with wearing a mask.

Both have denied the facts. They were released after their custody and have not yet been charged. There are still investigations to be carried out and witnesses to be heard as well as the victim, the police said.

“The hammer was discovered by lifeguards on the scene this Friday morning,” said the chief officer.
