The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) employs a suspected Islamist. In a response of the Federal Ministry of the Interior to an enquiry of the Left parliamentary group it says: “In the phenomenon area of Islamism and Islamist terrorism the Federal Government is aware of a serious case of suspicion. However, as the case is probably not yet closed, no further information was given.
The government’s reply, which is available to the German Press Agency, also does not contain any specific details on possible attempts by foreign intelligence services to hire agents in Bamf as translators in order to gather information on exile oppositionists. The Ministry of the Interior merely stated that all employees of the agency would be subject to security checks.
