Again the Church of St. John in Ellrich (photo) was the target of vandals. Unknown persons damaged several organ pipes, tore them out partially and set fire to the candlesticks. The perpetrators didn’t spare a Bible either. It is not yet possible to say how much damage was caused.The police are looking for witnesses, in particular visitors to the church, who made observations on Sunday the 15th of September between 3.30 p.m. and 6 p.m., related to the damage. The damage occurred while the church was being opened. Already on Saturday the 31st of August, unknown persons had damaged the church organ. The police in Nordhausen will take any information by calling 03631/960.
