Yesterday, Friday, around 03:30 p.m., the police and fire brigade were deployed in the St. Peter church in Wildeshausen (photo above). A member of the parish had noticed dense smoke in the church hall, which is why the fire brigade was alerted. By the time the fire brigade arrived, no fire was burning, so only the Church had to have ventilation. Due to the circumstances, it must be assumed that the fire in the church was deliberately set. There was no damage to the building itself. The total damage to property is estimated at 80,000 Euros. The high damage is mainly due to the heavy sooting of the interior furnishings. The Wildeshausen police accept relevant hints regarding the crime and suspected perpetrators by calling 04431-99410.
