On suspicion of a sexual offence, the Friedrichshafen Criminal Police Department is investigating two 21- and 29-year-old Nigerian men who are accused of possibly sexually assaulting two young women against their will during the night from Sunday to Monday. According to police findings to date, the four participants, who had already known each other before, had arranged to meet on Sunday evening in an asylum seeker accommodation in Owingen-Billafingen, where they also consumed considerable amounts of alcohol together. Later in the night, according to the women’s statements, the attack took place in the room in the course of which the two men sexually harassed both women.The women then fled the shelter and addressed local residents who called the police for help. The officers succeeded in finding both suspects in the immediate vicinity and arresting them temporarily. At the request of the Constance public prosecutor’s office, the suspects were brought before the responsible magistrate this afternoon, who ordered them to be detained on remand. Police investigations into the exact course of events are continuing.
