Germany: Racketeering commited by Nigerian asylum seekers

Police searched several apartments in accommodation for refugees in Rheinfelden at around 6.00 a.m. yesterday morning. The reason was investigations against five Nigerian citizens on suspicion of blackmailing compatriots. There were findings that the suspects had blackmailed protection money. At the request of the Lörrach public prosecutor’s office, the Lörrach working group ordered the searches.The Freiburg criminal police coordinated the operation, which was carried out with the assistance of the local police and the police headquarters. Various pieces of evidence were seized in the searched accommodations. The accused, aged between 21 and 30 years, were investigated and questioned. The investigations of the Freiburg criminal investigation department are continuing.
