Germany: Rioting African causes delays in suburban rail services

Yesterday around 08:30 a.m. a 19-year-old Somalian rioted in the suburban train S21 (Bergedorf – Hamburg main station). When a traveller approached him, the man attacked him with a bottle. Federal police arrested the man at the suburban train station Tiefstack. According to the current state of the investigation, the suspect boarded the suburban train at the Allermöhe station. He sat down with the 25-year-old victim and drank beer. Shortly afterwards, he shook the bottle and splashed the beer around. He also struck the injured party. When the victim wanted to confront him, the suspect took the glass bottle and wanted to smash the 25-year-old. Travellers prevented this by holding the man. They then informed the train driver about the emergency call. The driver stopped the train at Tiefstack station. Federal police were able to identify all those involved at the Tiefstack suburban station. Since the suspect continued to behave aggressively, he had to be tied up. The drunken man (breath alcohol 2.17 per thousand) was taken into custody and transferred to the Federal Police station in Hamburg. The victim was not injured by the attack. There were disruptions in suburban rail traffic. The 19-year-old suspect was released after sobering up. Criminal proceedings were instituted against him on suspicion of attempted bodily harm. Further investigations will be conducted by the Investigation Service of the Federal Police Hamburg.
