A dangerous attack on rail traffic occurred yesterday morning on a railway line in Hagen. A suspect was arrested. Around 07:00 a.m. the Federal Police was informed about a person who had placed several objects on the tracks of the railway line Lüdenscheid – Hagen. In the area of the Jäger street in the Hagen district of Eilpe, police forces were able to arrest a 36-year-old man. He had laid several tree trunks (diameter approx. 40 cm) and a defective bicycle on the rails. The line was closed for rail traffic, so that a regional train stopped in time in front of the obstacles.The suspect, who is a Turkish citizen from Hagen, was taken to the station guard of the Federal Police. There it turned out that the man was probably suffering from a mental disorder, which is why he was later admitted to a clinic. The Federal Police initiated criminal proceedings for dangerous interference with rail traffic.
