Germany: African man tries to rape blind woman at Munich central station

Last Friday morning, a blind young woman was sexually harassed by a 27-year-old man at Munich Central Station. A 51-year-old and other travellers came to her aid after she had drawn attention to herself. A 27-year-old Nigerian approached a 22-year-old blind German at 8:20 a.m. in Munich’s main railway station on the platform. After a short conversation, he asked her for her mobile phone number. When she refused to hand her over, the African embraced the woman from the Rosenheim district and opened the lock on her rucksack so that it fell to the ground. He then opened the press studs and the zipper of her rain jacket. Then he tried to touch the young woman in the breast area, “only” reaching for her naked shoulder. The 22-year-old tried to fend off the offence and made others aware of her unfortunate situation by saying “No! A 51-year-old man, separated the two.Thereupon the African left. A German Railway Security patrol was able to locate the perpetrator in a nearby restaurant in the main railway station and – until the arrival of the Federal Police – detain him. After the police measures had been completed, including a blood sample ordered by the public prosecutor’s office, the African was able to leave the guard free again. He first entered the Federal Republic of Germany in June last year and is in possession of a valid residence permit. The Munich Federal Police is now investigating the 27-year-old African for sexual assault and harassment.
