On Thursday between 8.40 p.m. and 8.50 p.m., an attempted manslaughter took place in the parking lot of the shopping mall on Graf-Otto-Street in Northeim. A 25-year-old man from Northeim was life-threateningly injured by knife wounds. The incident was neither reported by those involved nor by witnesses. Three men took the seriously injured man by car to the emergency room of the Northeim hospital. After an emergency operation, the 25-year-old is now recovering. The Northeim police, informed by the hospital, began the first investigations that night.On Friday morning, the 25-year-old could be questioned in detail by the investigators of the 1st police department of the Northeim police. A suspicion arose against a 24-year-old Afghan national living in Northeim, who was further confirmed in the course of the day. A search was initiated. In the late afternoon, the suspect appeared at the Northeim police station and surrendered. The man was arrested and spent the night in a detention cell. At the request of the public prosecutor’s office in Göttingen, the 24-year-old was brought before a magistrate at the Northeim district court on Saturday morning. A warrant of arrest has been issued. The arrested person was then transferred to the Rosdorf prison. The police investigations continue.
