Federal police yesterday had to deal with a passenger who had taken a regional express train from Leipzig to Erfurt without a ticket. At first, the officers investigated the man on suspicion of fare evasion. As a result, it was discovered that the man was a 35-year-old Spaniard who pretended to be a Cameroonian in Berlin and applied for asylum. He presumably wanted to receive asylum benefits without justification. In addition to the criminal complaint for fare evasion, the officials have also initiated an investigation into the suspicion of indirect falsification of documents with a possible social fraud.
