When he came to the aid of a young woman, a 38-year-old man from Jülich was beaten. He had to be taken to a hospital with serious injuries. On Friday morning shortly after 09:00 a.m. a 19-year-old woman from Aldenhoven was approached by a stranger on the platform of the Jülich railway station. The man communicated in English, harassed the young woman verbally and made sexual advances. The woman from Aldenhoven turned away and a witness came to her aid. He approached the man and presumably told him in a foreign language that he should leave the woman alone. The man reacted extremely aggressively and repeatedly punched the helper in the face with his fists, even when he fell to the ground and remained lying there. The 19-year-old made an emergency call and the police and rescue workers were sent. The helper, a 38-year-old man from Jülich, was taken to a hospital first and then to a clinic for in-patient treatment with serious injuries.The attacker was arrested by the police for the time being. He was a 19-year-old Syrian resident in Linnich. His identity was established beyond doubt.At noon the accused was released by the Jülich police station. He is now being investigated for sexual harassment and dangerous bodily harm.
