George Floyd’s autopsy “revealed no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation” as race riots continue across the US.

The report noted that the combined effects of Floyd “being restrained by police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death”.

The Washington Times reported that Floyd died on Monday from preexisting health conditions exacerbated by drug use while being held down by Minneapolis officers, and not from strangulation or asphyxiation as is being alleged by rioters.

Based on the medical examiner’s initial report from a Tuesday preliminary autopsy conducted by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner there were “no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxiation or strangulation”.

A criminal complaint was filed against former officer Derek Michael Chauvin who had arrested Floyd.

“Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease,” said the complaint from the Hennepin County Attorney. “The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death.”

Social unrest coupled with violence continued across major US cities on Friday evening. From Washington, DC to New York City to Atlanta to Ohio to Los Angeles to San Jose, tens of thousands of African-Americans supported by Antifa gathered in the streets.

The White House meanwhile arrived at a “general consensus” on Friday that no further riots should be stopped by law enforcement “because it would hurt their chances at coalition building with minority communities ahead of the election,” Ryan James Girdusky reported.

“If anyone’s expecting to see an LA riot type of response from the federal government. They’re going to be disappointed. A lot of conversation went into all the work they’ve put in to reach out to the black community (on average, Trump’s polling 8 percent with them),” Girdusky added.

Very few African-American rioters bothered about adhering to anti-Corona measures. In Minneapolis, where the riots had erupted, the municipal government said it had provided hundreds of masks to the public for the purpose of reducing transmission of the virus.

The Democrat mayor of Minneapolis Jacob Frey asked that “protesters” practice social distancing and wear masks. Although his social distancing calls were mostly ignored, many looters could be seen wearing masks in a bid to hide their faces. Frey himself wore a mask for his Twitter profile photo, as he framed Lloyd’s death as a racial war.

“The City encourages everyone to exercise caution to stay safe while participating in demonstrations, including wearing masks and physical distancing as much as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” the statement reads. “The City has made hundreds of masks available to protesters this week.”

The Treasury Department in Washington DC was also attacked by rioters, who vandalised the building. According to CNN, some of the protesters were stopped by US Secret Service but they were eventually released.

The European Union has discovered what Democrats in America have known for years: never let a crisis go to waste.

In that spirit, the EU is presenting a massive relief package for European economies to help them get back on their feet following the coronavirus lockdowns.

But the plan isn’t designed solely to alleviate the crisis. It’s mainly structured to advance the EU’s climate change agenda to make the world safe for windmills…or something.

The EU’s plan seeks to pour money into emissions-busting sectors: €91bn (£81bn) a year for home energy efficiency and green heating, €25bn of renewable energy, and €20bn for clean cars over two years, plus 2m charging points in five years. Up to €60bn will go to zero-emissions trains and the production of 1m tonnes of clean hydrogen is planned.

At least a million green jobs will be created, with workers in polluting industries helped into new roles, a critical part of the plan. Increasing the Just Transition Fund more than fivefold to €40bn minimises the risk of protests against green measures, especially in states with the heaviest coal use such as Poland, Germany and Romania, which will be among the biggest recipients. This is politically necessary, despite investment in the green economy already being a no-brainer.

Barack Obama invested massive amounts of money in the green economy and gave us the weakest economic recovery in history, so good luck with that, EU.

Aren’t they worried some of that money will go to dirty, carbon-polluting industries? If it does, the greens are ready for it:

The Just Transition Fund will be routed through the European Investment Bank, but campaigners say its climate criteria allow the backing of gas projects that would lock in emissions for years. Another key fund, the €150bn React EU programme, allows member states to decide how to spend the money – most of the almost €2tn in coronavirus rescue funds spent by EU nations so far has had no green guarantees.

Worse, say critics, climate conditions on large parts of the main EU budget have been lifted for three years because of the pandemic. The proportion of the budget reserved for climate projects remains stuck at 25%, despite demands by the European parliament and many others to raise it.

The commission rejects these criticisms, saying the “objective of the green economy is present throughout the whole management of the funds”. Whether this oversight proves effective will be the critical test.

While the rest of the world’s economies are unleashed following the easing of the pandemic, the EU will be stuck trying to achieve green goals that will put a brake on any recovery plans they may have. Their unemployment situation — already bad before the pandemic — will almost certainly worsen as coal and oil industries will suffer huge job losses as governments try to starve them out of existence by denying them relief funds.

The voters in the EU should know that they are doing this deliberately, with their eyes open. They will create hardship and misery unnecessarily. But the way they see it, a few lost jobs is worth it if we save the planet.

Maybe voters should see to it that the officials lose their jobs at the next election.

A large mob of “youths” set a large-scale ambush for first responders in Dietzenbach, in the Offenbach district of Darmstadt near Frankfurt, last night. Several police vehicles were destroyed in the attack.
The incident began when several trash bins and an excavator were set on fire in a parking lot at around midnight. Local residents alerted first responders, but when police and firefighters arrived at the scene, they were attacked by a group of approximately 50 people who were throwing large numbers of stones and flaming projectiles. Police had to call for reinforcements to secure the area due to the ferocity of the assault.
The clash between police and the mob lasted for approximately two hours, and three suspects were arrested. Two were released shortly thereafter. No injuries were reported, but several police vehicles were destroyed, and the damage is estimated to run between 100,000 and 150,000 euros, according to a report by EN24.
A property manager in the area told reporters that this is the third such fire in recent weeks and that he expects more. “It’s a mess,” he said, saying that it was difficult for him to employ staff to work in his building because of the deteriorating security situation.
Police are investigating what caused the riot. They have speculated that it may have been retaliation for police raids carried out in the area earlier this week that resulted in the confiscation of stolen goods, including bicycles, construction equipment, and a motorcycle. Australian infectious disease researchers have raised the alarm about fake data in a study published in The Lancet denouncing the drug hydroxychloroquine in the treatment Covid-19. The Australian Department of Health has been stockpiling millions of doses of hydroxychloroquine.

The Lancet study prompted the World Health Organization to halt global trials on the drug even though it has been considered to be safe for decades already.

Dr Allen Cheng, an epidemiologist and infectious disease in Melbourne, told Guardian Australia he has never heard of Surgisphere, and no one from his hospital, The Alfred, had provided Surgisphere with data for The Lancet. “If they got this wrong, what else could be wrong?” Cheng warned. Another “red flag” for Cheng is that the paper listed only four authors.

He demanded that the Australian hospitals allegedly involved in the study be named.

The study, led by the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Center for Advanced Heart Disease in Boston, in the US, examined patients in hospitals worldwide, including allegedly in Australia. It claimed that researchers had gained access to data from five hospitals recording 600 Australian Covid-19 patients and 73 Australian deaths as of 21 April.

But data from Johns Hopkins University shows only 67 deaths from Covid-19 had been recorded in Australia by 21 April. The number did not rise to 73 until 23 April. The Lancet data is not readily available in Australian clinical databases either.

Guardian Australia also contacted the health departments of Australia’s two most populous states, New South Wales and Victoria, both registering the highest number of Covid-19 cases. Of the Australian deaths reported by 21 April, 14 were in Victoria and 26 in NSW.

The NSW Department of Health said it never provided Lancet researchers with the data from its databases, while Victoria’s department said the Lancet data did not reconcile with the state’s Coronavirus data, including hospital admissions and deaths.

The Lancet responded to the claims of faked data provided by the lead author of the study, Dr Mandeep Mehra: “We have asked the authors for clarifications, we know that they are investigating urgently, and we await their reply.”

In a statement, Surgisphere founder Dr Sapan Desai, also an author on the Lancet paper, claimed a hospital from Asia had accidentally been included in the Australian data.

Spain will continue to use hydroxychloroquine against the Coronavirus despite the French ban and the WHO’s sudden doubts, Spanish daily El Paìs reported.

The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) considers that the recent study published in The Lancet that warned about the risks of hydroxychloroquine does not provide conclusions “strong enough” to stop using this drug in Spain or stop research underway in hospitals.

This position contrasts with that adopted by France, which has just banned the use of this drug to treat Covid-19, and the doubts of the World Health Organization (WHO), which has suspended all trials. In both cases, the decision was taken after the questionable study was published in The Lancet.

Also, in the UK, the University of Edinburgh said it would continue their trial of the drug.

In France, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, the leader of Debout la France party, said the government’s ban on hydroxychloroquine goes against the right to an inexpensive and effective medicine.

“This is a real state scandal”, said Dupont-Aignan. “The French government, because of stupidity or corruption, refuses French citizens treatment with hydroxychloroquine, which can save lives. And I think that the French will soon be outraged, because today this treatment is effective in many countries throughout the world”.

He said pressure came from pharmaceutical labs and vaccine promoters looking to earn billions if other treatments are banned. “Professor Raoul and his treatment regimen is like a little pebble in the boot of large pharmaceutical labs”, the politician noted.

Dupont-Aignan said Big Pharma influenced the decision taken by the WHO after The Lancet faked the data. “The WHO is influenced by pharmaceutical labs; it has lost credibility. The Lancet published a study – fabricated, not true – whose authors want to convince [people] that prescribing chloroquine is dangerous, that it is cardiotoxic… And we can clearly see the shadow of laboratories that want to sell us more expensive drugs or a hypothetical vaccine behind this fight against chloroquine, an inexpensive (almost free) medicine that could save hundreds of thousands of lives”.

According to him, the danger is that the French government “seeks to impose official medicine”. He added: “For over 70 years, chloroquine has been on the open market in our country. This is not a new drug. It has no contra-indications. It just needs to be prescribed reasonably, and that is what doctors should do.”

An attempt this week by the Democratic Socialists of America’s BDS national working group to tie Israel to recent incidents of US police violence against minorities has sparked outrage.

Referring to unrest on the streets of Minneapolis following the recent police killing of an unarmed African-American man, George Floyd, the group tweeted, “The police violence happening tonight in Minneapolis is straight out of the IDF playbook,” adding, “US cops train in Israel.”

“The racist and brutal tactics used by Israeli military and US cops are purposefully one and the same,” it charged, citing no evidence.

“So-called ‘less lethal’ weapons like tear gas are manufactured in the US and sold to Israel where they are tested and used on Palestinians,” the group claimed, before going on to say, “Surveillance tech is made in Israel & brought to the US to invade the privacy of Black, brown, Muslim, poor, and otherwise marginalized people.”

“This is the ‘special relationship’ between Israel and the United States,” it continued.

The DSA group’s statements were part of an ongoing organized campaign called “Deadly Exchange,” which posits that racist police tactics in the US are Israel’s fault.

Critics say that such claims are a blood libel and responsible for inciting incidents of antisemitic violence.

In response to the DSA group’s tweets, B’nai B’rith International told The Algemeiner, “This is a case of exploiting the tragic and tense situation in Minneapolis to advance the motives of the BDS movement to demean and delegitimize Israel.”

Rabbi Abraham Cooper — associate dean at the Simon Wiesenthal Center — said that, similar to previous attempts to exploit such incidents, “non-existent dots were connected” to portray “the Palestinians as people of color fighting white Israel. … We Jews know all about antisemites connecting non-existent dots to denigrate our people.”
