Yesterday, Tuesday, unknown perpetrators tried to set a fire at three places in the Maria Magdalena Church in the street Am Kirchhof (photo above) in Goch between 2:20 pm and 4:00 pm. According to the first inspection of the recordings of a surveillance camera, the perpetrators are a female and a male person aged 16-20 years. In the small chapel they tried to cause a fire on a candlestick. In the central nave the perpetrators tried to set fire to a book stand for prayer books. Both attempts fortunately failed, as did the attempt to ignite a fire at the back of the high altar. The CID Goch now asks witnesses who can give any information about the two suspects by calling 02823 1080.
