The AfD Hamburg has not found a place in the city to complete its campaign. Therefore, the event with AfD leader Jörg Meuthen had to take place in Henstedt-Ulzburg in Schleswig-Holstein, the party said on Tuesday.

A few days ago, a restaurant in the Wilhelmsburg district had told the AfD  that they were not welcome there. Previously, the Hamburg “Alliance against Right” had asked the landlord not to rent any rooms to the AfD.

Hamburg’s AfD chief Dirk Nockemann said that his party would be massively restricted in the campaign for the general election next weekend. “Unscrupulous and violent left-wing extremists trample on our fundamental democratic rights. Many talk about the climate emergency, but Hamburg has long experienced a democratic emergency,” said Nockemann.

He also blamed the Senate for this. It has been financing and tolerating left-wing extremist structures for years. “When will the public finally understand that Antifa has our democracy firmly in a headlock,” the MP said.

On the night of Monday, left-wing extremists had vandalized the house of Nockemann. The perpetrators had thrown several bottles of champagne filled with paint against the facade and several windows around two o’clock, the AfD politician said.

The alleged perpetrators then claimed responsibility on the extreme left-wing website “Indymedia”.

While the outrage over the AfD’s votes was still making waves in the Thuringian state parliament, the apartment block was smeared with paint because the AfD allegedly stands for racism and repression. “It is unbearable that the AfD sits in state parliaments, has its say in the media and spreads its inhuman propaganda!”
