Early Friday morning, a 33-year-old man from Guinea stabbed the neighbouring couple with a kitchen knife in Donauwörth in an inner courtyard between apartment buildings. The man and woman were injured in a life-threatening manner.According to the newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine, the man from Guinea and the married couple have lived in the same house for many years. Yesterday morning they got into an argument. Witnesses observed that the 33-year-old hit the couple and had a knife with him. He stabbed the 49-year-old man and 43-year-old woman several times with a knife. “The attack was very serious”, said Police Commissioner Rainer Pabst. The man was particularly severely injured – he suffered stab wounds to his body and head and had to be resuscitated on site. His wife was taken by helicopter to the university hospital in Augsburg with life-threatening injuries. There both knife victims fight for their lives.The public prosecutor’s office in Augsburg is investigating the perpetrator from Guinea for attempted murder in a crime combined with dangerous bodily injury. The investigators therefore assume that the African acted deliberately. The motive is still unclear. According to testimonies, however, the African had shouted “something” that suggests an Islamic background. But the arrested person has no connections to Islamism, Chief Commissioner Rainer Papst is sure.
