Germany: Mass brawl between Turks and Syrians using knives

Yesterday, Monday afternoon, a violent clash took place in Leonberg between a Turkish and a Syrian group of origin for reasons that have not yet been clarified. In the course of the clash, a 22-year-old Turk allegedly attacked a 20-year-old Syrian with a knife. The dispute had begun at lunchtime in a fast food restaurant in a shopping centre on Eltinger Street. There the alleged victim of the knife attack had inflicted a laceration with a head-butt on an 18-year-old boy of Turkish origin, who had been there with several companions, and who had to be treated in hospital. The Syrian was also accompanied by three to four people at this time. As a result, the conflict continued around 2 p.m. at the Neuköllner Square bus stop a few metres away, where about 15 to 20 people aged 14 to 23 clashed. Among these persons was the 20-year-old, who was presumably attacked by a 22-year-old Turk due to an earlier head-butt. The 20-year-old then attacked with a pepper spray and used it against several of those involved. The 22-year-old then pulled a military knife, threatened his opponent and stabbed him several times in his direction, but without injuring him. Then the 22-year-old fled and the conflict resolved. The Böblingen Police Department, call 07031/13-00, is now looking for witnesses who have observed the conflict between the two groups.
