The police of the Rastatt area, the federal police and forces from the police headquarters investigated various indications of quarrels of a larger group on Saturday afternoon. After there had already been a dispute between two non-German groups on Friday, the witnesses said that groups of different nationalities were also on the move in the city on Saturday. The police got several calls about confrontations and gunshots in the castle park and the area around the station. According to the first report, there were about 20 violent people in the park around 2:30 pm. When the police patrols arrived, two more men, a 21-year-old man from Afghanistan and a 33-year-old Turk could be spotted. A short time later, around 4.15 p.m., the police reported that about 30 people were going to fight in the area of the station. With a large contingent of police patrols the station area and the city area were checked. The officers of the Federal Police could meet several men, one slightly injured and an 18-year-old Afghan, who had to be treated with an injury at the head of helpers of the Red Cross. After being admitted to hospital and receiving medical care, the 18-year-old man had left the clinic in the evening. The search for the responsible attackers is ongoing and is the subject of police investigations. A total of 20 people who could be connected with the incidents were checked and expelled from the premises during the late afternoon. In the area of the castle park, ‘An der Ludwigfeste’ as well as in the area of the railway station various evidence could be seized, among them also cartridge cases of a alarm gun.The police forces will also be present in Rastatt on Sunday with an increased presence.
